TAKE CASE Sf COITON
In tests made of different ways of
storing cotton the most startling fact,
disclosed was that a 492-pound bale
of cotton stored flat on the ground
for six mouths lost 232 pounds, leav
ing 2(50 pounds for the market, while
another bale stored properly in a
warehouse lust only two pounds.
This means that, if the price was
thirty cents a pound, the loss on the
first bale was $69.60. The loss on
the bale in the warehouse was but
sixty cents.
TO HOME CURE MEAT
A meeting of the hograisers around
Vidalia with W Webb, South Geor
gia Agent of the State Bureau of
Markets is to .fee held today to dis
cuss the feasibility of building home
curing plants for taking care of this
year’s hog crop at home.
The only market now quoted to
hog raisers of that section is at Jack
sonville and for some time past the
price there has varied from 6to 10
cents a pound, less than the actual
cost of production, the hog raisers say.
The farmers feel sure that a fair
1 profit may be derived from their
hogs if arrangements are made to
cure meat at home.
