free of debt and the taxes cut to
where people can afford to pay them.
During the past twelve months I have
advocated drastic economy in the
county expenses and the payment of
the heavy indebtedness of the county.
I promise, if elected, to continue to
do all in my power toward lessening
the burdens of the taxpayers of the
countv.
G. M. Toney.
On March 1, 1933, the present
Board of County Commissioners were
faced with an almost empty treasury.
It was necessary for them to pledge
their personal credit in order to ob-
tain the supplies necessary to carry
on the work of the chain gang. Their
first acts were to make drastic cuts
in the salaries of county employees
and to reduce exoenses in every way
possible. I am asking the support
of the voters of the countv in the
coming primary.
