Surprise Party
Madames Ware and Stubbs gave
the 7th grade an informal lawn party
at the home of Mrs Ware on Wed
nesday afternoon Mav 15.
At 2:15 Mr Nesbitt’s truck came to
the school house and all were told to
get on, that they were going for a
ride. No one suspicioned where they
were going until Ihe truck stopped in
front of Mrs Ware’s.
The lawn was beautifully decorated
with colorful flowers.
Many games and contests were en
joyed. Wilbur Thompson and Mi.-
mie Wood won the prizes.
Delicious refreshments were served
After expressing their appreciation
to the hostesses the 7th grade return
ed to school, a happier bunch for the
outing.
Eugene Colson
Eugene Talmadge Colson, infant
son ofMrO. W. Colson, of Tooms
boro, died in a local hospital at 1.45
pm, Monday after an illness of two
weeks.
He was born May 2. 1934, and
besides the parents two brothers sur
vive, Maryin and Otha Williamson
Colson; grandparents, Mr and Mrs
D. F. Colson, Toomsboro.
The body was taken from Hart's
Mortuary to Toomsboro where the
funeral services were held Tuesday in
Salem church. Rev. I. C. Walker of
ficiating. Interment was in the Sa
lem cemetery.

Toomsboro School
After what has probably been the
best year in its history, both in at
tendance and accomplishments, the
closing exercises of the Toomsboro
High School began Monday night
with a recital by the music pupils of
Mrs W. W. Solomon.
On Wednesday night an operetta
was presented by the grammar grades
under the direction of Misses Annie
Wyll Marshall, Inez Mercer. Johnnie
Miller. Doris Lindsey, Mary Parks
Stewart and Mary Fountain.
On Friday night, May 24, 1935.
at 8:30 o’clock, the First Grade un
der direction of Misses Willie Mae
Hall and Ruby Lockhart, will hold
their “Graduation’’ exercises in the
high school auditorium.
There will be 22 boys and 15 girls
to receive the promotion certificates
for the second grade. The children
will wear white gowns and white caps
duplicating those worn by the high
school graduates.
Each year these tiny tots are one
of the most popular features of the
week’s exercises and their precision in
carrying out their parts would do
credit to higher grades.
Doyle Hollman made a perfect at
tendance record for the full nine
months. Mandolin Butler and Frank
ie McKinney each mnde perfect at
tendance records for the second term
of five months.
Dovle Holliman won first place and
Frankie McKinney second place.
After the completion of the first
grade program the Seventh grade will
have their graduation exercises.
Sunday morning Rev. W. M. Mar
shall, Pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Tennille, will deliver the
Commencement Sermon at the Tooms
boro Baptist church.
Monday night May 27, at 8:30, the
High School graduation will take
place in the high school auditorium.
Dr. Harry Little of G. S. C. W.,
Milledgeville, will deliver the Liter
ary address.
American Legion Rallies
Sixth District rallies of the Ameri
can Legion have been set for a num
ber of neighbor cities, among them
are Jeffersonville, Sunday, June 9;
Danville. Sunday, June 23.
District convention, Milledgeville,
Sunday, July 7.
