Two Men Hurt At
Sandy Bridge
T, C. Martin, 24, and a negro, Ike
Carswell, employees of the Albert
Lyons Construction Company received
painful injuries Monday morning while
at work on the new bridge oyer Big
Sandy Creek, about 3 miles from Ir
winton.
Mr. Martin received cuts about the
face and on the head and bruises on
the hand and leg- Carswell received
a gash in his leg and bruises on his
hand.
The accident occured about 8:30
when a bridge form, which they were
tearing down from a swinging scafford
under the bridge, fell on the scalford
tearing loose the braces by the force
of the impact and hurled the scaf.'ord
about 15 feet to the ground. A third
wooker on the scafford, a negro, escap
ed injury by jumping to an overhead
brace
The men were rushed to Irwinton
w here they were given medical treat
ment by Dr. W. M. Puckett.
Tom T. Hill
Tom T Hill, 50, died in Bald
win Memorial hospital in Milled
geville Feb. 3, after a heart at
tack.
Mr. Hill prominent Wilkinson
county citizen was recovering
from an appenicitis operation. He
was operated on Jan. 25, and
was expected to be removed to
his home in Irwinton on Febu
ary 8.
Funeral services were held at
3 o’clock Sunday alternoon at the
Masonic cemetery in Irwinton.
He is survived by his mother,
Mrs. Jennie Hill, 92, six sister,
Irwinton, Wilkinson County, Georgia.
Wedding Plans
Announced For
Rainey-Lindsey
Announcement is made today of the
wedding plans of Miss Marjorie Dave
Rainey, of Decatur, and James B.
Lindsey, of Atlanta, whose engage
ment was recently announced- The
marriage of the young couple is set
for February 25 at the First Baptist
church with the pastor, Dr. A. J.
Moncrief, officiating at 6 o’clock in
the evening, James Beers, the church
organist, will give a musical program
prior to and during the ceremony.
W. M. Rainey, will giye his dau
ghter in marriage and Mr. Lindsey
will have James Marvin Bagley Jr.,
as his best man Miss Sara Gray Rain
ey, cousin of the bride, will be maid
of honor.
Bridesmaids will be Misses Peggy
Ulrich, Sue Lindsev, Nell Scott
Earthman, Lufred Brooks and Mrs.
John E McKinley. Ushers and
groomsmen will be Hubert Lindsey,
Waldo Lindsey, Dave Anderson,
Mack Tharpe, Joe Hall, John Rainey
of Birmingham, bro;her of the bride
elect; Henry Bynum and Mack Fur
low.
A series of social affairs is planned
to honor the young pair before their
marriage- Among the first is the
luncheon was given on Sunday for
Miss Rainey by Mrs. Jack Johnson
and Mrs J. D. McPherson, of Savan
nah, at tbe home es the former in
Decatur. Monday Miss Lufred Brooks
gave a luncheon and shower in her
honor.
On Febuary 6 Miss Helen Barnes
gave a bridge luncheon and on Feb.
11 Mrs. Frank Inman Jr. entertains
at a bridge luncheon at her home on
Maddox drive in Atlanta. Mrs. John
McKinley and Miss Sue Lindrey en
tertain at a dinner party and shower
on Feb. 16.
Mrs. Leßoy Ulrich and Miss Peggy
Ulrich will give a tea for Miss Rainey
on Feb. 18, and on Feb. 24 Mr. and
Mrs Harold Watson Rainey and Miss
Sara Rainey give a buffet supper for
the bride elect and her fiance after
the wedding rehearsal.

The Feb. meeting of the Methodist
Missionary met at the home of Mrs
Tom Brundage- Ten members and
three visitors were present.

Ball’s Ferry Bridge
Opens March 31
About 25 men met in Sandersville
Thursday to name the date of official
opening of Ball’s Ferry Bridge.
C. D. Rountree, General Chairman
opened the meeting and H. F. Tar
button waa elected as General Secre
tary.
The date of the Official Opening is
March 31 and program starts 10 am.
County Commissioners of the five
counties of Wilkinson, Washington,
Johnson, Emanuel, Bibb have agreed
to go their part in expenses of the
celebration, and were appointed as the
arrangements committee.
Victor Davidson moved that the
celebration be held on the Wilkinson
county side of the river, which was
seconded by H. E- Stephens and was
adopted after it had been suggested
that the program be held on Washing
ton county side.
H. E Stephens made a motion,
seconded by Victor Davidson that a
County Commissioner serve on Exec
utive committee of each county, to be
named by the executive committee
already appointed.
After the Sandersville meeting, the
executive committee of Wilkinson held
a special meeting Thursday afternoon
appointing two members of the Coun
ty Commissioners to serve on execu
tive Committee, A. L. Branan an I
George F. Hatcher.
The executive committee of Wil
kinson will hold a meeting in Irwin
ton Monday night 7:30 to arrange
Wilkinson county’s committees.

School Meetin e
All of the County School Superin
tendents of the state and several Board
Members metheb. 3 at the Henry
Grady Hotel. The object of the meet
ing was to draw up resolutions to the
effect that Governor Riyers be autho
rized by the Legislature to borrow
fund* until they could pasa a revenue
measure to take care of the situation.
All of the white teacher* of tho
County were present except two at a
teachers’ meeting which was held at
the Court House in Irwinton Friday,
Feb. 3, at 3:30. The teachers met to
