Me
By LAURA MARTIN STACY I
(In Beatrice, Nebraska, Laura ’
Martin Stacy, 16, is the local Elsa |
Maxwell. She loves social gather- ;
ings, plays the piano, is president;
of her school’s drama club. Laura
answers the question: Does the
movie trend suit your taste?)
Certainly. It should suit every
body’s taste.
I guess the movie business is a
pretty well-organized group of
men. If I know that people have
different tastes, the men who make
the movies certainly should.
Laura Martin Stacy California
and maybe it didn’t, but they make
enough pictures I like to avoid go
ing to see the ones I don’t like.
Isn’t that suiting my taste ? ■,
I don’t have to go to the movies I
every week. If the show is having
a film I don’t think I want to see,
I can have just as much fun taking
my own pictures with the new
Ansco Camera my father bought '
me for Christmas.
Os course, if a date is taking me, |
I don’t protest too much unless I j
know for certain I won’t like it I
because of the star playing in it
or the background of the story.
Now that I think of it, I suppose
that’s why they have so many dif
ferent stars. Those big producers
or whoever picks the stars for a
picture are there to suit the differ
ent tastes of the public.
I’ve learned a lot in the drama
club at school. A lot for a high
( school girl, anyway. Our instruc
tor showed us the importance of
casting. Some actors, no mattw
how good they are—like somec-ac
like Cary Grant, I mean—jus»
couldn’t play some parts.
. So those producers get someotM
who has the headstart of lookiaf
like the person in the story sho<jU
look.
I know that Mickey Rooney mi
not the sort of star who would be
east as Ben Hur. Audiences would
just laugh at him. But still nobody
can say that Mickey is not a grtal
actor. When they are making |
movie they are thinking of n**Mng
but the public’s taste.
As a matter of fact, when I
, think of all the different kino* w
* pictures that come out of HeKv*
n wood, I don’t even think there in
b a “trend”—just a big, general
‘[offering to the public. And my
t taste is suited.

SPIRITUALLY SPEAKIN Q
By Reo. Gordon C. King.
OUR KING
I believe in the uncrowned
King. Jesus said, “My kingdom
is not of this world.” He was not
looking for an earthly throne and
crown, He meant that His King
dom was the heavenly kingdom.
He wants to rule in the heart of
man, and His Kingdom is in the
inner man _ a kingdom of the
spiritual. Yet, even though He
l ad no place to lay his head, ma
ny in His name try to sit up earth*
jv potentates who dress in gor
geous regalia, wear their golden
crowns, and seek the honors and
powers of an earthly throne, while
our Lord who is the very corner
stone of the church possesses only
a heavenly crown. He is the light
of this world’s goods an un
crowned King, and without doubt
He desires that the church follow
his example.
, The church can have a king
dom of this world or a kingdom
not of this world. It can have a
a kingdom of parade and splend
or or a kingdom of heart and in
ner life. The Lord would not rule
you with political power, but he
would rule your hearts He would
not have you think of Him as ar
rayed in scarlet or royal purple,
but He would have you think
of Him as the Savior of y.ur im
mortal soul. Our Lord would
have you worship Him, the un
crowned King!
