State Route 18 in Gordon and ex
tending toward Milledgeville,
otherwise known as Federal Aid
Secondary Project S 0781 (2) in
Wilkinson County. The work will
be let in one contract.

SENOIR CLASS
Back From Trip
The members of the Senoir
Class have returned from their
week’s trip to Washington, D. C.
The first night was spent in
Henderson, N. C. On the way in
to Washington from Henderson,
they went through Mt. Vernon
and that night enjoyed a moon
light cruise on the Potomac.
While in Washington they visi
ted the Houses of Congress and
were greeted by both Georgia
Senators- Among the other points
of historic interest were: the
Washington Monument, Bureau
of Printing and Engraving, Con
gressional Library, Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier, Smithsonian
Institute and others.
On Saturday morning the class
went to the Naval Academy at
Annapolis, Md. and visited with
midshipman E. K. Wood, Jr , a
brother of one member of the
class. While there they attended
the Cadet Parade.
On the return trip the class
went through Luray Caverns in
Virginia and the Thomas Jeffer
son Memorial at Charlottesville,
Virginia. The last night was
spent in Charlotte, N- C.
The class members taking the
trip included Franklin Bell, Ross
Bell, Melvin Brack, Fannie Mae
Brown, Betty Carr, Billy Carr,
Jane Council, Kinard Culpepper,
Bradley Dean, Vera Fountain,
Jake Hardie, Martha Lavender,
Winifred Mason, Joan Mills, Son
ny Mohr, Amanda Murphey, Mary
Murphey, Joyce Phillips, Mary
Sue Price, Carolyn Smith, Ura
Stewart, Rhodesia Taylor, and
Morris Wood.
Accompanying the class were
Supt. J. F. Cason, Miss Izetta Da
vis, class sponsors, Mrs. T. W.
Bell and Mrs. A. R. Mohr, class
mothers.

‘ Both Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Drexel received their diplomas
from the University of Georgia
this week. For Anne it was a hap
py surprise as she was thinking
she had more work to do. Mr. and
Mrs. N. H. Bacon attended the
graduation.
Mrs. Rosa Lindsey and Miss
Cornelia Byington went to Ath
ens Wednesday tor Gilmore who
attended the University this year.
Mrs. Herbert Myrick formerly
Miss Zelda English cf Gordon,
has accepted a position with the
AAA in Irwinton.
Mrs. Frances Patterson or
Lumpkin is visiting Judge and
Mrs George Carswell.
Mrs. Anna Thompson has re
turned from a most enjoyable
stay at her farm at Titusville,Fl.
Miss Dorothy Branan of Gor
don is visiting her cousin, Dana
Byington.
Mrs. Alma Lee is a patient at
Middle Georgia Hospital.
Our youag neighbors. Lauretta
and George Hill Carswell Jr,
went up and spent the night at

nesday night, and guess what!

Misses Carolyn Petty and Pat
Player went to Jacksonville, Fla.
Friday to see “Uncle Julian’s”
daughter, Miss Jane Carswell,
graduate.
Mr. Frank Johnson is visiting
relatives in Illinois.
Col. Victor Davidson attended
a meeting of the Georgia Bar As
sociation in Savannah last week.
