“When two weeks with pay
। come their way, two out of three
head for the sea,” says Katherine
Potter, Director of Procter & Gam-
Sble’s Beauty and Grooming Service.
She’s talking about the vacation
plans of the working girls who close
their typewriters, shut up their flies
s and wash the carbon off their hands
[for fourteen days of sand, sun and
sea. *
Miss Potter sends them off with
her blessings — coupled with some
•ound advice on how to stay just as
1 beautifully groomed as ever, so that
those vacation days will pay off in
( row friendships and happy memo
' rise. .Ind there won’t be any hang-
czer from lazy beauty care to be
paid for later.
For there’s no doubt about it, the
•er^shcre offers problems in beauty.

Your best bet, says Miss Potter,
is to tuck into your suitcase a tube
of special detergent shampoo. Then,
when you come back from a swim ;
and are under the shower, use this
fragrant green jelly to make your
hair fresh and clean again. You’ll
find it lathers instantly even when
your hair is full of salt water. Re
sult: a sweet and shiny top-knot in
stead of something that looks like
seaweed on a clam.
Don’t be afraid of washing youi
hair too often. Miss Potter’s advice
is to wash it every day rather than
to leave it sticky from swim water.
She explains that hair is similar in
composition to your finger nails.
Washing hands as often as you do
doesn't hurt your nails, so It stands
to reason that frequent washing
won’t harm your hair.
If you are planning to be In the
sun for long periods of time, says
Miss Potter, keep your head covered.
Also wear the simplest of hairdos,
■They’re fer Tacf.tiw>, fun.

You will find the financial state
ments of two strong neighbor
hood banks in this issue, on page

these reports should dispel any
doubts of any competition from
the ” Seeley mattress ” or the old
coffee pot on top pantry shelf.
These days even Junior’s piggy,
