Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Asbell,
Miss Glenn Asbell of Albany, Mr
and Mrs. B B. Asbell and Mrs
Elmo Davis attended the funeral
of their uncle, the Rev. Bartow
Asbell, retired Baptist minister
of Cochran. He was a former
pastor of Old Richland Church
in Twiggs County and recently
attended and took part in the old
Church’s Home Coming celebra
tion.
Mr. Nat Bacon and his mother,
Mrs N. H. Bacon returned this
week from a trip to Washington,
D. C. En route they visited Mrs
Annie Fuller in Gastonia, N. C.
and points of interest in Virginia
including V? illiamsdurg and Hol
lins College.
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Skelton
have returned from a visit to Mr
and Mrs. Russell Culpepper in
Knoxville. Tenn.
Judge and Mrs. George Cars,
well left last Thursday for the
Simmons Lodge in Florida for a
tnree-day visit.
Mrs Mary Adkins recently vis
ited her son, Mr. George Adkins
and family at Port St. Joe. Fla.
Mr. Howard Bacon of Lexing
ton, Ga. is the guest of his broth
er Mr. N* H Bacon and family.
BETHEL CHURCH
The newly - elected Deacons
will be ordained at Bethel Bap
tist Church at 4 p.m on the Ist
Sunday in September with the
Rev. Lester E. Pritchett, pastor,
and Rev. Sidney Gresham of the
Jeffersonville Baptist Church in
charge of the ceremony.
The public is invited to attend,
also deacons of other churches
who are of the same faith.
Regular services will be held
at 11 o’clock am and at 8 p.m.

are enjoying a trip to Old Mexico
On her recent visit to the M.H.
Bowles in Waynesville, N. C.
Mrs. Robert Hartley visited the
great new amphitheatre near

4 - H CLUB NEWS
Four 4-H Girls are attending
State 4-H ( ouncil meeting, Au
gust 21-25, in Milledgeville.
Joan Williams. Irwinton and
Gail Boone, Toomsboro, are rep
resenting the county as regular
delegates These are selected by
the County 4 H Council and ac
cording to their 4-H Record.
Joyce Jones, Gordon, received
her trip, with expenses paid, by
being selected District Winner in
Song Leading. She will have
special instructions in Song Lead
ing and assist with the programs
also compete for State honors
Joyce was elected to office of Re
porter from South Central Dis
trict and will receive special
training for this office while in
Milledgeville
Betty Jane Cross, Irwinton, has
attended Council meetings as a
regular delegate, and is going
back this year as a return dele*
gate. Only twelve girls and
twelve boys in the state are select
ed for this honor. This selection
is made at the State Extension
Office and is based on their out
standing achievement in 4 H
work.
The girls will be accompanied
by their local Home Demonstra
tion Agent

Clothing Winner, was a recent
guest of Rich’s in Atlanta. After
attending a Fashion Show, re
viewing the new styles‘for fall,
she received a gift from Rich’s:
material for a complete outfit, -
dress, hat and bag. This she will
make to compete for state honors
The clothing consultant at Rich’s
assisted Joyce in her selection.

attended a two day rally in Ma
con August 16 and 17, as a guest
of the Bibb Manufacturing Com
pany.
। Winners from each of the six
Extension Districts were present.
An interesting educational pro
gram was planned: A banquet,
Wednesday evening, where they
met the sponsors of their project.
Thursday a tour was made of in
teresting sights in Macon. In
conclusion the groups were tak
en through one of the Bibb Mills.
