Mr. and Mrs. J. R Wilcox of
Hawkinsville were Sunday visi
tors.
Mrs Lily Burkett, who is spen
ding the winter in Macon, came
down to see Miss Lola a few days
ago.
Miss Winifred Council brought
David Paul home with her last
week end.
If Ray Petty’s parents appear
extra happy this week it is be
cause a letter from the Dean of
Emory University informs them
that Ray is stepping along proud
ly in the upper half of his class.

The Christian Rural Overseas Program (CROP) officially opened it 1950 harvest appeal to rural
Americans to help underprivileged and hungry people overseas with relief in kind by dedicating an
entire shipload of foodstuffs on United Nations Day in Chicago. The cargo was made up of advance
contributions from 17 states where CROP this year operates and government surplus of powdered
eggs and dried milk. Participating in the colorful ceremony were DP children seen above in Ukran
ian national costumes who sang “America” in English and in the Ukranian tongue. Some of the gov

MRS CARLTON G- KITCHENS
Mrs. Carlton G. Kitchens. 61,
home demonstration agent for
Twiggs County, died Saturday at
a local hospital after being rushed
from her home in Dantille.
Mrs Kitchens was born Janu
ary 25, 1889 in Danvil e, and was
a member of the extension de
partment of t h e University of
Georgia and the Danville Baptist
Church.
She is survived by her husband
C G Kitchens. Danville; one son
Dr. Garry Kitchens, Packanack.
N. J.; two brothers, John F. Por
ter Jr. and W. T Porter Sr. both
of Irwinton; two sisters. Mrs.
Fletcher Hanson of Macon and
Mrs. Glenn Johnson of Elberton

Funeral services were held at
2pm Sunday at Bethel t hurch
for Thomas A Justice, 61 Rev.
Jo&eph A. Moore officiated.
Survivors are two sons, Thom
as 1 Justice and Joe W. Justice
of Macon; five daughters. Ars
Ralph Lord, -odon. Mrs. Joseph
Patterson and Mrs. Melvin Gates
of Macon; Mrs Norman Hansen.
Plainfield. N J ; and Mrs. Rusell
Cleveland Jr. of Atlanta Five
grandchildren; brothers, Ira Jus
tice, Irwinton and Rufe Justice,
Hawkinsville;and one sister. Mrs
George Butler, Danville

the Judge of the Superior Court
of Wilkinson County. Georgia, on
the 18th day of November, 1950,
at 2 o’clock, P.M., at the Court
house in t h e City of Irwinton,
Georgia, will hear the case of the
State of Georgia vs. Town of
Toomsboro, Numder 1011, in Wil
kinson Superior Court, the same
being a proceeding to confirm
and validate an issue of Water
Anticipation Certificates in the
amountof $35,000 00 by the town
of Toomsboro, for the purpose
of providing funds for financing
in whole or in part the cost of
acquiring and constructing a wa
ter works system, and any citiz
en of the State of Georgia resid
ing in said Town, or any other
person wherever residing who
has a right to object, may inter
vene and become a party to these
proceedings.

family house-warming when she
moved into her new home.
Another happy family are Mr.
and Mrs. T. A. Beall and Miss
Clara, who are at home again on
Carlyle Hill, in a new brick house
replacing the old which burned
