est, two cousins from Gordon are
announcing their engagement.
Miss Emily Virginia Kingery,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edd
Howard Kingery. is t o marry
John Boyd Butts Jr. of Milledge
ville on Feb. 18 at the Gordon
Baptist Church. Her cousin. Miss
Mary 1 illian Beck, daughter of
Mr- and Mrs W. L. Beck is en
gaged to Pervy Augustus (line
Jr of Gastonia, S C., their wed
ding to be in the early summer.
Miss Kingery received aB. S.
degree from North Carolina Col
lege. After graduation she taught
one year in Tocoa High School.
For 18 months she has been asso
ciated with Hahn Laboratories,
Columbia, S. C W hile in Colum
bia she has made her home with
her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs-
D. P. Patterson.
Mr. Butts is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. B Butts of Milledgeville.
He was graduated from Lanier
High Schoo), attended Mercer U
niversity in Macon and served in
the U. 8. Navy during World
War 11 Upon returning, heat
tended the University of Georgia
graduating in June, 1950, with a
B. S. degree in pharmacy. He is
associated in business with his
father in Milledgeville.
Miss Beck graduated from A’er
cer University cum laude. She
taught in the Gordon and Monti
cello schools before attending the
Baptist Training School at Louis
ville. Ky. Last summer she work
ed under the Baptist Home Mis
s on Board in Tampa, Fla.
The son of Mr. and Mrs P. A.
Cline of Gastonia, Mr. Cline ser
ved overseas in the Army He
graduated from Wake Forest
College with an A B degree. He
has worked under the Baptist
Official Organ Irwinton, Wilk nson Ccunty, Georgia.

The National 4-H Thrift Program, working with 2,000,000 boys and
girls, encourages thrift and saving as a foundation for personal security,
good citizenship, and national strength. Program sponsors are the
Cooperative Extension Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture
and the State Colleges of Agriculture, the Agricultural Commission of
the American Bankers Association, and the U. S. Savings Bonds Division
of the Treasury Department. Copies of the above poster are being dis
tributed to 84,000 4-II clubs.
