Miss Abell was graduated from
GSCW with a BS degree in Busi
ness Administration. At GSCW
she was president of the Folk
Club, treasurer of League of Wo
men Voters, a member of Beta
Alpha Club, and Pi Omega Pi,
honorary business education fra
ternity. She is now a member of
the Jones County High School in
Gray,
Mr. Everett attended Middle
Georgia College where he was a
member of the Glee Club and Pi
lots Club. At present he is em
ployed by Edgar Brothers Com
pany in Mclntyre.
The wedding will take place on
March 20th- at the home of the
bride’s parents. After their mar
riage the couple will reside in
Irwinton.

I have qualified with the Chairman
of the Democratic Executive Commit
tee as a candidate for membership in
the Georgia House of Representatives
I come before you as the people’s can
didate. and not as the hand picked
candidate of any political faction. Dur
ing the next several years the State
of Georgia will spend large snms of
money for Educational purposes and
for the building and improving of
roads and bridges. If you elect me
your representative I will work every
day toward bringing our just share to
Wilkinson County. I will work with
the other members of the Georgia Le
gislature and the officials of the pres
ent administration for a better Coun_
ty and a better State.
I have lived in Wilkinson County
all mv life, in fact, I am now living
in the house in which I was born. I
have a burning desire to be of service
to my fellow man, and to the boys and
girls who will make up our future cit
izenship. With your help we will
build a school system and a road sys
tem in Wilkinson County second to
none.

R. C. Whitman
R.C. Whitman Judge of rhe Putman
County court and veteran Eatonton at
torney, this week announced his cand
idacy for Solicitor General of the Ucm
ulgee Circuit in the primary to be held
May 14.
A native of Eatonton, Mr. Whitman
has been a practicing attorney for 20
years during which time he has held
many offices of responsibility. For 6
years he was attorney for the City of
Eatonton ami for twelve years he served
in the same capacity lor Putnam Co
unty. He also served ♦or several terms
a-Solicitor for Putnam County Court
prior to his election as Judge in 1948;
The prominent attorney ami his family
have been publicized in the daily pre-s
and magazines as the “ legal family
Georgia ” Unusual is the fact that he,
his wile and son are all practicing at
torneys. For 1G years Mrs. Whitman
has been associated with her husband
in the legal profession and their son.
R. C. Whitman. Jr. wa< admitted to the
bar soon after his discharge from the
Air Force at the end of World War 11.
A member of one of the county’s
pioneer families, Mr Whitman has
been active in the civic and cultural
life of Putnam County. He is a past
president of the Eatonton Exchange
Club, a fonn» r member of the Middle
Georgia Boy Scout Council, and for a
number of years a member of the Eat
onton Board of Aidermen. Since his ad
mission to the Georgia Bar, he has been
active in all professional activities,
being a member of both the Ocmulgee
and the Georgia Bar Assoc'a’ions.
Mr. W’hitman was admitted to the
Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of
Georgia, and Federal Court soon after
his admittance to the bar, and has act
ively practiced in these Courts and the
Superior Courts over the State since
his admission.
In seeking the office of Solicitor Ge
neral of the Ocmulgee Cncnit, Mr.
Whitman stated that he sees in this
office a great opportunity of service to
mankind. Combating crime, he contin
ued, is a challenge to anyone who des
ires to serve his fellowman.
Mr. Whitman -aid that if be is elect
ed to the office of Solicitor General, it
will be his policy to see that justice is
admiuis ered to all on a fair and im
partial bases.
The Eatonton at'orney is making
the race at the request of a large group
of friends and admirers over the circuit.
