Os cordial interest to their
many friends was the marriage of
Miss Miriam Abell, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Rejko of Fort
Gaines to Mr. Edwin Irwin Ever
ett, which was solemnized in an
impressive double-ring ceremony
at high noon on March 20 at the
home of the bride’s parents in
Fort Gaines.
The Rev. R. E. Blackburn offi
ciated. Bill Tom Sutton, cousin,
of the bride, lighted the candles,
on the improvised altar of white
gladioli, snapdragons and spirea
against a background of ferns.
Many other flower arrangements
were dispersed throughout the
house. The bride, lovely in a suit
of navy imported Irish linen,
with matching shoes, an off-the
face model hat of pink nylon
straw with nose tip veil, pink ny
lon gloves and a white orchid
corsage, was given in marriage
by her father. Her only attend
ant was Miss Mary Louise Hobbs
who also wore navy with pink
accessories.
The groom’s attendant was his
father, I. E. Everett, of Irwinton
The bride's mother wore a na
vy suit and a purple orchid cor
sage; the groom’s mother chose
a suit of ashes of roses with a
matching hat, and a purple or
chid.
The young couple left soon af
ter the wedding for a tour of Flo
rida, and are now at home in
their beautiful new residence.
Mrs. Everett will be honoree
at a shower this afternoon, given
by the groom’s aunt, Mrs. J. H.
Shepherd.

Mary Lillian Beck to Thomas Al
exander White Jr. of Round Oak
The wedding will be an event of
June 15th at the Gordon Baptist
Church.
Miss Beck is a graduate cum
laude from Mercer University,
where she was active in Chi Om
ega sorority, “M’’Club, on stu
dent government Council, and
the Baptist Student Union. She
taught in the Gordon and Monti
cello schools before attending
the Baptist Seminary, Louisville.
Ky. At present she is teaching
in Gordon High School.
Mr. White is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. T. A. White of Round Oak
and was graduated from Jones
County High school. He entered
Mercer University and after ser
ving with the U.S. Marine Corps
overseas, was graduated from
Mercer. He was active in Sigma
Nu fraternity . For three years
he was principal at the Deepstep
school and at present is teaching
and coaching at Gordon High
school.
Georgia Power Cooking School

pany Cooking School to be held
at the Irwinton High School au
ditorium at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday
April Bth. The public is cordially

Marion King of Atlanta.
