Whereas, God in His infinite love
and wisdom called unto himself, on
the Sixteenth Day of March, Nine

Whereas, she was a charter mem
ber of the Gordon Improvement Club
later called the the Wymadausis Club
and now known as the Gordon Wo

Gillie Sanders, was born on the Fifth
Day of February, Eighteen Hundred
and Sixty, in the old Sanders home
near Gordon and spent her youth in
and around Gordon. She was a mem
ber of the Gordon Methodist Church.
After her marriage she moved from
Gordon. Later she returned and oper
ated the Gordon Hotel for years. After
wards Mrs Powell went to Atlanta to
be with her daughters. For the past
few years she had made her home at
the Gordon hotel Although uuable to
attend her church services and the
meetings of the Gordon Woman’s Club
Mrs. Powell loved and supported her
ehuroh friends. This can be also said
of her club activities. She was never
a club officer; preferring, as she often
said: “to be a follower
and cooperate in all worthwhile
activities of the club.” Her influence
and support were always witn her club
and her church-
Whereas, even in her last years
when her body had become frail, the
keenness of her mind and her interest
in worldly affairs was a joy to behold-
After a visit with her, one went away
lifted up. All during her last illness
her family and friends were blessed
by her radiant spirit and have suffer
ed a great loss in her passing. She
leaves two daughters and a host of
friends to mourn her departure, there
fore,
Be it resolved, that we say in hum
ble faith, The Lord preserve!h all
them that love Him. ... He healeth
the broken in heart, and
Be it resolved further, that we ex
tend our deepest sympathy to her
loved ones, and that a copy of these
resolutions be sent to Miss Ethel Pow
ell and to Miss Hazel Powell, a copy
to be sent to the County newspapers
and a copy be attached to the minu
tes of the Gordon Woman's Club,
that her msmory may remain with us
an inspiration.
Respectfully submitted,
