How do we derect radioactivity?
You can’t hear, see, feel, smell or taste radioactivity but its presence
can be definitely detected with Geiger counters and other instruments.
You do not have to know how to use these instruments. Local radio
logical defense teams —a trained, corps of “meter readers”—will warn
you of lingering radioactivity.
These teams will advise firefighters and rescue crews and ethers who
may have to enter contaminated areas.
Remember, whenever you think of radioactivity think of the compari
son to sunlight, which in moderate amounts does not burn at all, and
the fact that detectable radioactivity does not necessarily mean dan
gerous radioactivity.
