winton. Paul is in the Signal
Corps Reserves again, after a
year of active service at Ft. Mon
mouth, N. J and Camp Gordon,
Ga. During this year he was pro
moted from Second to First Lieu
tenant. During World War II he
was connected with the 95th Reg
iment under Patton’s Third Ar
my and saw active service at
Metz. Saint Barbara, etc , win
ning the Infantryman’s Badge
and Purple Heart. His wife is the

and David are planning to spend
a White Christmas with relatives
in Bethany and Ridgeway, Mo.

bell, will return home with them
for a visit

recent guests were Mrs. Robert
Coody, her son and daughter of
Eastman; Miss Shirley Shepherd
and two brothers of Chauncey.

We hear that Bobby Bacon has
been transferred to another Air
Field in Japan. Bobby has been
in Japan since last April. Frank
and Billy Bacon are both in Cal
ifornia.

for the marriage Thursday night
of Miss Irene E. Mace to Sgt.
Wilma B. Rozar.. The former
Miss Mace is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lora Mace, Rt. 2 Rolla,
and her bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. E. D, Rozar from
Irwinton, Ga.
The double ring wedding ser
vice was performed in the Assem
bly of God Church by the Rev.
George Fry. ’ •
The bride approached the altar
escorted by her father, who gave
her in marriage. She was dressed
in a white satin and net gown
with fingertip sleeves- She car
ried a bouquet of white and light
pink mums on a muff.
Miss Ruby Mace, serving as
her sister’s bridemaid, wore a
pink satin gown. Little Linda
Williams, flower girl, w o r ea
white satin gown similar to the
bride’s. Rose Ellen Waterman
lighted the candles, dressed in
pink w i t h a bracelet of pink
mums.
Pvt. Paul E. Zahn of Ft. Leon
ard W ood served as best man.
Preceding the ceremony a vo
cal solo, '‘Because’’ was sung by
Phil Degrade of Fort Leonard
Wood He also sang “Joy Comes
at Last.” Traditional wedding
music and accompaniment for so
los were provided by Bob Money.
The bride’s mother wore navy
with corsage of red roses.
Immediately following the cer
emony a reception was held for
50 guests at the bride’s home.
The bride is a graduate of Rol
la High School. Sgt. Rozar is a
graduate of Irwinton High School
in Georgia He has been with the
US. Army for the past three
years and is now stationed at
Camp Carson, Colo.
After the reception the couple
left for a short wedding trip.

PMA NEWS
The 1953 ACP Paogram is moving
along. We are 90 percent complete
on Farm Contacts. Anyone interested
in participating in the 1953 program
should contact his Community Com
mitteeman and file his request imme
diately. There will be $33,370 00 al
lotted to Wilkinson County for the
coming year.
There is a small amount of 1952
funds still available for purchasing
Lime and Fertilizer. Applications will
be taken for each through December
12, 1952 This will be issued on pur
chase order.

HOME TOO CONTEST
Plans for the 1953 Champion
Home Town Contest were an
nounced Dec. 4th bv Charles A.
Collier, vice president of Georgia
Power Company. This will be the
sixth Contest the power company
has sponsored.
Entries must be mailed in by
midnight, February 1. Compet
ing towns will have until October
22 to prepare and submit reports
of progress for the year ending
Oct 1, 1953.
The official entry blank and
other information is available
through local Ga. Power Compa
ny offices.
Cash prizes totaling $8,950 will
be awarded to the winners.
WILLIAM H- HARDIE
William H. Hardie died at his resi
dence at Gordon Wednesday after
noon He was a life-long resident of
Wilkinson County, the son of Frank
Hardie and Mrs. Alice Huffman Hard
je, and was a member of the Metho
dist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Miss Lerna Newton; four daughters,
Mrs R. E. Criswell, Macon, Mrs. Jack
Burns, Carrollton, Mrs. Howard Han
son, St, Paul, Minn., Mrs. Lucille
Cannon, West Palm Beach, Fla.; five
grandchildren, one great-grandchild,
four brothers and one sister.
Funeral arrangements will be an
nounced later.
