Tooemsboro has had a tragedy
that has saddened all hearts. The
car--train wreck that took the
- life ot the little son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jesse Tompkins.
Tommy and® his mother were
going to the Georgia Lumber &
- Veneer Company’s plant for Mr.
Tompkins when the wreck occur
ed. Both mother and son were
seriously hurt when thrown from
the car
Tommy was an only child and
was loyed by all who knew him.
Santa had left him, this Christ
mas, a new bicycle that he had
never ridden, due to the rainy
weather, Heli ved only a few"
hours after the wreck and never
regained consciousness. He died
m a Milledgeville hospital

Dixons during the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Buck Bowles and
Miss F'lorence Ann Bowles were
Mrs. Robert Hartley's Christmas
visitors.
Mrs. W, L. Dixon attended the
funeral Tuesday of her kinsman,
Thomas W. Thompson at Mabel
White Baptist Church, Macon.
.«’-itr Thompson was born in Wil
kinson County, the son of N. J. *
Thompson and Mrs. Martha Jane
Faulk Thompson. and had lived
in Macon 10 years. He was a
member of Mabel White Church.
Mrs. J. R. Sims of Rt. 2 Irwin
ton, passed away last Friday in
3 Macon hospital.
- Mrs. Sims, the fsrmer Miss
Elizabeth Sapp, was a lifelong re
sident of Wilkinson County and
a member of New Providence
Baptist Church.

Mrs. Maggie S. Lee. 83. of Gor

Dec 23, after a long illness.
Funeral seryices were held at
the Gordon Methodist Church
Thursday afternoon with Rev.
Emmett Roberts officiating and
burial was in the Lee family cem
etery near Gordon.
Survivors include one son, Jc
seph Lee of Sayannah; one daugh
ter, Mrs. Eric Miller of Gordon.

Mrs. Lee was a lifelong resident
of Gordon and the widow of the
late Sidney W. Lee.

Irwinton friends were sadden
ed over the serious injuries of
Sonny Mohr, in a car wreck on
the Macon Road. He underwent
a spinal ope: at}on at Macon Hos
pital Monday. He s the son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Mohr and has
many friends here who are hop
ing for his complete recovery.
A stranger driving a car with
an Alabama tag knocked down a
part of the wall of Irwinton :er
vice Station Sunday night. We
didn’'t see the ariver but the car
and the wall were sorry sights.
Two happy families in town
are the Fred Byingtons and the
Thad Players. Gilmore arrived
home from Okinawa in time for
Christmas and Billy came in from
Texas on Christmas Eve. Gil
more will go to his new post at
West Palm Beach, Fla. after a
30 day leave at home.
Church. :
We extend sympathy to the
family of Mrs. Maggie Lee, who
passed away last Wednesday.
Mrs. Lee was one of the oldest
residents of Gordon and was ac
tive in ‘church and local affairs
of the town until her health fail
ed several years ago. She has
been confined :to her home with
her daughter, Mrs. Eric Miller.
