After Sunday morning services

moved to the site of the new ed
ucational building for ground
breaking Those taking part, led
by the pastor, were the deacons
and b u i 1 d i n g committee. Mr.
Stanley DuPree turned the first
shovel of dirt.
Miss Mary Alice Stinson of Ma
con visited her aunt, Mrs. Lillie
Stinson, and other relatives Sun
day.
Mr. Mrs. Frank Hawthorne an
nounce the birth of a baby girl
named Marsha Elaine, Jan. 6 at
the Macon Hospital.
Mrs. Warren Dykes is recover
ing at home after being hospital
ized following an automobile ac
cident on Christmas day, while
enroute to Jeffersonville.
Mrs. C H Fountain and Mr.
Mrs. I. P Holliman recently
spent the weekend in Elberton
with Mrs. L. W. New.

Rev. and Mis. Ernest Phillips
and son. Tim, were guests Sun
day of Mrs. Cynthia Dudley.
Mr. Mrs. D 0. Bates spent the
week with son, Ross Bates and
family in Talbotton.
Mrs. A. B. Branan is in Estill,
S. C. with her daughter, Mrs.
Maine Baker and family. The Ba
kers are having a siege of red
measles.
Mr. Mrs. J.H. Holliman were
in Gordon Monday night, guests
of Mr. Mrs. Buck Dixons.
Mrs. Edna Cashner of Atlanta,
who is recovering from a recent
illness, has been spending some
time with parents. Mr. Mrs. Bar
tow Wood.
Mr. Mrs. Victor Kaminsky re
cently visited relatives in Coch
ran.

finance committee, who gave a
very encouraging report.

The Monday’s edition of Atlan
ta Journal carried a nice write
up and pictures of the Sidney
Miller chicken farm. Mr Miller
is enlarging his flock each year
and we can see from the road a
huge building going up that will
care for 10.000 hens He also has
a building housing 3,000, and an
other, 5.000. Mrs Leon Dean and
the F Etheridge family assist
Mr. Miller with this project.

THE NEWHIGH SCHOOL-
The new Wilkinson County
High School soon to be built near
Irwinton on the Macon Road will
consist of 13 classrooms, plus a
library, home economics room,
agricultural department, com
merce department, gymnasium
with a 760 seating capacity and
locker rcom.
Also included in the structure
is a lunchioom and kitchen, ad
ministrative wing with a clinic,
storerooms, offices and reception
room.
Architect Bernard A. Webb Jr.
of Macon, says the total cost of
the project is estimated at $265,
000.
John W. Miller is superintend
ent of the county schools, mem
bers of the school board are J. D.
Holliman, chairman. A. T Land,
J. M. Boone. O. K Etheridge and
J. M. Youngblood.

fifth of January. Kay Hatcher

Jackie Walker. Following the
program the regular business
session was held The clubs vot
ed to continue visiting the chur
ches in the community.

The regular monthly meeting
of the Toomsboro PTA will be
held in the school auditorium on
Tuesday afternoon, January 19,
1954, at 3 p.m. The first grade
mothers with the teacher will be
hostesses. All members are urged
to attend, as well as friends of
the school
