The Toomsboro H. D. Club met
Tuesday of last week at the beau
tiful country home of Kate and
Gladys Kogers. Mrs. Allen Dixon
was co hostess. These meetings
are lots of fun and are well at
tended.
Mrs. Clifford Jackson is visit
ing Mrs. Will Jackson in S. Caro
lina. *
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Branan hon
ored their mother with a spend
the-day party Sunday, April 11.
All of Mrs Branan’s children
were invited to enjoy this occa
sion. Many more happy birthdays

Mrs. Jerry James and Mrs. J.
H. Holliman spent a day and a
night recently with Mr. and Mrs.
A. S. James Sr. at Reynolds, Ga.
Mrs. Ben Hill Jackson has re
turned from a visit to her daugh
ter, Mrs. Will Jackson in S. Car
olina.

ter. Mrs. Hemminger of Atlanta,
has returned to her home for a
while.

Brown of Atlanta recently visit

na Beck and Mr. Gilbert.

Roy Flint from Atlanta.
News of Gordon
• The BWC of the First Baptist
Church, Gordon, held their regu
lar meeting at the home of Mrs.
Lois Moore. Circle ch airman.
There were nine members pres
ent. all taking part on the pro
gram. Delicious refreshments
were served by the hostess.

W- L BECK SUFFERES INJURIES
A widesprean search which fol
lowed the bea tin g of Mr. Will
Beck, police officer of Gordon,
ended Tuesday 13. when Henry
Banks, a Gordon negro, was tak
en into custody by Sheriff Geo F
Hatcher. GBI Agent Henry Wal
den and other officers.
Banks beat up Mr. Beck when
he attempted to arrest him for
drunken driving last Sunday. The
negro took Beck’s gun and still
had it when arrested.
Mr. Beck was confined to Ma
con Hospital. He suffered head
injuries. The hospital describes
his condition as “fair.’’

Baptist Revival services at the
Irwinton Union Church this week
are being well attended The pas
tor, Rev. Clifton Martin, has as
guest minister Rev. Hubert Wood
yard, who is a brother-in-law of
the Rev. “Jimmy’’ Waters.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Spears of
Milledgeville were recent guests
of Mr. and Mrs T. A. Beall and
Miss Clara Beall.
Miss Julia Todd of Atlanta vis
ited relatives in Irwinton last
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Maddox
and little daughter, Susette, of
Alice, Texas, are visiting Mrs,
Mamie Maddox and family.
Members of the Methodist Sun
day School really had a good time
at the picnic last Friday evening
though the Spring weather suf
fered a relapse and r a n us in
doors. Still, the gym is a fine
place for a party.
The Rose Garden Club met on
Tuesday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. J. R. Mitchell. The Club
is sponsoring a pre-Easter BAKE
SALE Saturday at Little Jack’s
Case, so if you have anv prefer
ence in cakes, pies or cookies let
us have vour orders today, please
Mr. James R. Wilcox’s mother
and sister were in town for a
short visit last Friday.
Elmer Horton looks very hap
py to be home again and out of
the Service.
Mrs, Ralph Culpepper’s birth
day gift was a telephone conver
sation with Major and Mrs. Wit
sell and the boys from London.

“Come To The Fair” ia the theme
of the musical show to be given by
students from all grades at the Irwin
ton School Auditorium Friday. April
23, at 8;00 p. m.
The First Grade will present 'The
Wedding of the Painted Doll.”
The Second and Third Grades will
present “The Merry-Go-Round ' and
“The Orchestra.”
Students from the Fourth, Fifth,
Six and Seventh Grades will give a
Cowboy and Indian act.
Students from the High School
Glee Club will be Hawiians X
The show is under the direction of
Mrs. Ray mend Hill.
Admission will be 25 and 40 cents.

TOOMSBORO PTA MEETING
The regular April meeting of
the Toomsboro PTA will be held
in the school auditorium Tuesday
April 20, at 3:00 p.m.
"An interesting program has
been arranged. In connection
with the PTA Meeting the school
will hold open house. All parents
are invited to attend the meeting
and visit all classrooms The high
school grade mothers and teach
ers will be the hospitality com
mittee.
Wilkinson County has been de
clared in a state of emergency be
cause of rabies! The County Cem
missioners have hired Dr. Small
ey of Dublin to give every dog in
the county, free of charge, shots
good for 4 years. He will come
the last 4 days in April. See the
