Monday evenin? the little first
graders of THS, (19 in number,)
marched into the auditorium un
der the efficient guidance of Miss
Willie Mae Hall, in their white
caps and gowns, to receive their
certificates of promotion. They
delivered their speeches like vet
erans.
Totsy Ashley of the 7th grade
played the March and Linda Bil
iue was the only one in the group
to receive a perfect attendance
award. Those in this class were

A very impressive installation
service was held Monday p.m. at
the Methodist Church when the
new WSCS officers were install
ed. Mrs. Sidnev Miller was in
charge, due to the absence of
the president, Mrs Clyde Hern

cher of the engagement of their
daughter, Miss Betty Rose Hatch
er, to Harrold Mills of Toomsbo
ro. son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh A.
Mills.
Miss Hatcher, graduate of Ir
winton High School, attended
Teacher’s College in Staesboro
and GAB, in Macon She is em
ployed in the research offices of
Edgar Brothers Company.
After graduating from Tooms
boro High School, Mr. Mills grad
uated from Georgia Teacher’s
College at Statesboro and taught
school in Tennille for one year.
He is now employed in the offices
of Georgia Lumber and ( Veneer
Company in Toomsboro.
The couple’s wedding will take
place in early August at the Ir
winton Union Church

Mrs. Lee Penninton entertain
ed her daughter, Judy’s class
mates with a theatre party at
the Judy-Ruth Monday night a
week ago. The picture was “Cal
amity Jane” The seventh grade
teacher, Mrs, J. T. Garner, and
several grade mothers accompa
nied them.
Mr and Mrs. James R. Wilcox
and Jane spent the weekend in
Athens as guests Mr. and Mrs.
Byron Wilcox.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Asbell and
Miss Glenn Anne were weekend
visitors. ।
Mrs Frank Dixon spent a few
days this week with Mr. and Mrs
W. L. Dixon.
Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Herndon
and children were guests last
weekend of the Marvin Halls.
Mrs. Marvin Hall left Tuesday
for Richmond, Va. to visit her
aunt, Mrs Eva Everett, and to
gether they will visit Mrs. Ever
ett’s daughter, Madelyn, (Mrs.
Paul Groover) in Boston. Mass.,
and daughter, Dorothy, in Wash
ington, D. C.
Mrs Emmie Hancock and son,
Billy Bel) of Savannah spent the
weekend with her sisters. Mrs.
Fred Everett and Mrs. Royce
Shepherd.

The wedding will take place at
4 p. m. June 13 at the First Bap
tist Church in Gordon.
The bride-elect is a graduate
of Gordon High School and Geor
gia Beauty Academy in Macon
She is now owner and operator
of a beauty shop in Gordon.
The bridegroom is a graduate
of Mercer University. At present
he is a s e n i o r at Southeastern
Baptist Theological Seminary, at
Wake Forest, N.C where he will
receive the Bachelor of Divinity
Degree.

ond consecutive year the State
Tennis championship award in
Class “C” Singles.

SPONSORS REVUE AND TOUR
The County Fashion Revue will be
held at the Irwinton School Audito
rium Monday. May 31 beginning at
2:30 p in. Those modeling dresses
need to be there around 2: p m.
Garments will be modeled in the fol
lowing classes: 1- Casual or Street
Wear. 2 - Sack or House Dresses. 3-
Stylish Stouts (Any type dress.) 4 -
Mother—Daughter or Mother--Son
Outfit. 4 —H Divisions:
1- Girls 10 to 13. 2 - Girls 14 to 21.
The 4 —H Talent Show will also
be presented at this meeting and be
lieve you will find it very interesting.
The Sunrisr Club will serve as hos
tess to the Council meeting.
The Educational Tour will be held
Thursday, May 27. The school bus
will leave Irwinton at 7;30 a. in. It
was necessary to leave earlier than
planned in order to be at the TV Sta
tion by 9 a. m.
The bus will pick up anyone on the
Irwinton—Gordon road 144 should it
be closer for you than going to Irwin
ton. It would save time if you can
bring a lunch but we will stop in
town for those who don't find it con
venient. We will wear comfortable
shoes because there will be a lot of
walking. Besides club members any
one is welcome to go who will pay for
their own transportation.
The following places will be toured
during the day:
1. WMAZ—TV where we will ap
pear on the program at 9:30 a. m.
2. The Macon Telegraph and News,
3, Macon Kratt, 4. Innland Container
Corporation, 5. Armstrong Cork Com
pany, 6. Vineville Upholstering Shop,
7. Macon Water Works.
