We saw the bells given to the
United States by the people of
the Netherlands That night we
saw the colored fountain m front
of the White House.
On the morning of May 28 we
visited the Franciscan Monastery
which is very beautiful both in
side and outside, the Botanical
Garens which have plants from
all parts of the world, and the
White House
We then left Washington for
New York. Arriving about 9:30
p, m. we ate supper and rode the
subway to Coney Island. After
this it was hard to get up in time
to go on a nine hour tour of New
York the next day. but after
wards we all agreed that it was
worth it. It would take too long
to list all we saw, but among the
best known were Harlem, China
town, Fifth Avenue, Wall Street
Statue of Liberty and the Empire
State Building which is 102 stor
ies high.
Sunday we were on our way
back to Natural Bridge, Va. On
our way we went thru Skyline
Caverns and over skyline Drive
We went to the pageant at Nat
ural Bridge that night and start
ed home early Monday morning.
The Seniors’ comment is that
they were tired from riding, tir
ed from climbing and felt as if
they could sleep a month, but it
all went along with the wonder
ful time they had and they’d do
it again if they had the opportu
nity.
They would also like to thank
Miss Joyce Riden for being a
good sponsor, Miss Carolyn Petty
and Mr. J F. Cason for being the
chaperons and “Stanley” for be
ing such a good bus driver.
