THE BULLETIN
HOME BOY WINS PRAISE
We found in an Athens paper
a very interesting account of the
growth and improvement being
made in Dade County High
School where our own Cecil Bil
lue is Principal. We quote:
Trenton, Ga - Residents of
Trenton and Dade County in gen
eral are confident that, despite
the handicaps in facilities, their
high school, which serves most
of the county, is fast becoming
one of the best in north Georgia.
Many of the patrons join with
Roy Moore, county school super
intendent, in giving credit for
the improving conditions at s he
high school to J, C. Billue, who
is completing his fifth year as
principal of Dade County High.
The principal, a native of Wil
kinson County, was graduated
from Berry College at Rome and
received his master’s degree
from the University of Georgia.
Supt. Moore calls Billue “one of
the best school administrators
I’ve ever known,” but the prin
cipal is modesty personified in
discussing his work and program
here.
“I think the school has made
some progress within recent
years,” he admits, “but most of
the credit should go to the coun
ty school officials, the PTA. the
rest of the faculty, and the stu
dents. We’ve had a lot of work
to do and just at out everyone
who has had an opportunity has
had a partin it.”
Most of this work was improv
ing and making out with facili
ties and physical equipment that
were and still are inadequate.
Despite this, he had added two
departments to the school, one
for teaching commercial work,
and the other a music depart
ment.
School work from kindergar
ten through high school is car
ried on in a series of buildings
scattered over a 13-acre campus.
The home economics department
is housed in an attractive log ca
bin which not long ago was a res
idence. The commercial depart
ment and the kindergarten are
in a building which was once a
skating rink. The principal’s of
fice, a study hall and the library
are in a building bought for SBS
at Fort Oglethorpe, where it was
a medical dispensary. High school
students went to the Fort and
dismantled the building for trans
fer to Dade campus.' Other Army
surplus buildings are used for
classrooms The main school
building was outgrown years ago

Missouri—a complete 20" scale model with perfect, accurate detail from g

any adult, it truly is a collector’s item. It’s the perfect gift for Father, s 3
