attended the wedding of Allen
Mills to Betty Rose Hatcher Sun
day afternoon in Irwinton. Allen
was born and reared in the ’Boro
and his many friends here wish
for him much happiness in his
marriage. His parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H A. Mills, entertained the
wedding party with a Rehearsal
Supper Saturday night. Covers
were laid for twenty guests.
Mrs. Cynthia Dudley ‘has been
entertaining a number of friends
and relatiyes as usual and her vi
sitors this week were Mr. and
Mrs. Reece (Cood and Russell
Cood of Miami, Fla, Mr. and Mrs
W. A. Colson and Rev and Mrs.
Wyman Hodges of Oconee, Mr,
and Mrs Vivien Pierce of Mcln
tyre and Rev. and Mrs. Maurice
Fain of the ’Boro. ;
‘Mr and Mrs. Rosser Bridwell
and Rosser .Jr. of Miami have
been spending a few days with
Mr. and Mrs. R O Barganier.
Pfec Eugene Twiggs of Fort
Bragg. N C. has been visiting
his family, the George Twiggs.
Clarence Bowdon, one of our
Tromsboro bovs who has spent
some time in Germany, is at
home now for a visit with rela
tives and friends.

son of Douglasville are visiting

spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs
Bartow Wood and Mrs. Edna

Miss Pattie Travis of Atlanta
spent the weekend with the Bar

We were all touched by the
passing of one of the famous Di
one quintuplets, Emilie Dionne
in Canada Even tho we were ne
ver near them. we kept up with
them thru the papers since their
birth in 1934, and felt almost as
if we knew them.
Wilkinson County cotton far
mers who did not overplant their
1954 allotment, or who have des
troyed any excess acreage they
may have planted, may obtain
their cotton marketing cards by
calling at the;Wilkinson County
AS” Committee Office. The far
mers who overplanted their al
lotment, and have not destroyed
their excess acreage, should not
ify the County ASC Office of
their intentions at the earliest
possible moment so the necessary
records may be compieted and
cards issued to them.
No farmer will be given credit
for destroying excess acreage
after any cotton has been picked
from such acreage.

F. Hatcher of irwinton and Har
rold Allen Mills, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh A. Mills of Toomsbo
ro, were married at 5 p, m Sun
day at Irwinton Union ( hurch
with the Rev. A. C. Martin, pas
tor of Irwinton Baptist Chureh
officiating. °
White gladicli, ferns, smilax
and large candelabra decorated
the churen, Mrs. R W. Culpep
per Sr. played the wedding mu
sic and Edison Harbin of Gordon
sang.
'The groom had his father as
best man. Ushers were Ray Orr
and Frank Mills, brother of the
groom, both of Toomsboro.
The bride’s only sister, Miss
Kay Hatcher, was her maid of
honor and hridesmaids were Miss
Bobbie Jean Rozar of Irwinton,
and Mrs. Frank Mills of Tooms
boro. The three attendants were
dressed alike in' shrimp pink ny
lon net over satin, their waltz
length, strapless dresses worn
with matching stoles. They wore
white coronets with veils spark
led with rhinestones, matching
mittens'and carried nosegays of
shrimp pink asters.
Junior maids in identical cos
tumes were Ann Hatcher, niece
of the bride, and Judy Taylor,
also of Irwinton, They carried
smaller nosegays. -
Given in marriage by her fath
er, the bride wore iyory white
lace over satin, her gown, made
with triple-tiered skirt, the bod
ice rising in a Queen Anne collar

‘Mrs. Annie Jones, Mr. and Mrs
Conrad Robison and children of
Scooba, Miss. were guests last
Friday of Mrs. Eula Byington.
They are at present at their cot
tage at Indian Springs.
Mrs. Rosa Lindsey has return
ed from a summer camp at Lake
Burton, bragging about sleeping
under two quilts! That’s what
we call ‘‘stretching the blanket.”

Mrs. H. A Cliett of Americus
spent a few days this week with
Col, and Mrs. Victor Davidson.

A reception at the home of the
bride’s parents followed the cer
emony. White nylon net over sa
tin covered the bride’s table that
held the three-tiered wedding
cake topped with miniature bride
and groom. Around the cake
were lilies of the valley and fern
with silver candelabra at each
side.
