A ceremony at the Toomsboro
Methodist Church on Oct. 16 is to
unite in marriage Miss Marion
Holliman of Toomsboro and Wil
liam Dulin Weathers of Raleigh,
N C., whose engagement was
announced in Macon and Atlanta
papers Sunday.
Miss Holliman is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs J. H Holliman
of Toomsboro. She received the
Bachelor of Arts degree in chem
istry and biology from Geqpgia
State ( ollege for Women and
training in medical technology
at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta,
where she is now employed.
Mr. Weathers, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. A Weathers Sr. of Ral
eigh, N C„ is a graduate of N.
Carolina State College where he
was a member of Alpha Tau Om
ega fraternity and Phi Psi, na
tional textile fraternity. He is
associated with Kendall Mills in
Pelzer, S. C

Mr. and Mrs. Rollie' Bell, Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Holliman and
Mr. and Mrs. A L. Branan left
Tuesday morning for Miami to
attend the Shrine Convention.
Rev and Mrs. W. L Childres
and little daughter have returned
from a visit to friends in Butler.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Infinger
and daughter, Elaine, of Mar
shall, Texas, arrived Tuesday
for a visit with homefolks
Mr. and Mrs. J. T Roberts
spent the weekend with Rev. and
Mrs. E. M Phillips at Rincon.
Mrs. JR’ Mo arty visited re
latives in Atlanta last week. She
was telling us that Billy Todd
h a d a telephone conversation
with his wife from Hong ^ong
last Friday morning Filly had
sent a message sometime prior
to the call, asking his wife and
mother and the family to be to
gether. so that he could speak to
each one; but his message was
never received, and if his call
had come a few seconds later his
wife would have missed it, as she
works up town
Billy, who has been in desolate
Korea, considers this two-month
assignment to Hong Kong quite
a treat.
Mrs Gainer Fulford of Wright
sville is visiting her mother, Mrs.
George Everett.
W'ord has just’ been received
that J M. Carpenter died of a
heart attack last night (v\ ed )at
his home in Mclntyre.

TO THE PEOPLE OF WILKINSON
COUNTY:
It is with a deep sense of humility
that I thank all the people of our
cnuntv for allowing me to be a candi
date for re-election to the Georgia
Legislature without opposition. The
general Welfare of our county and its
people are of much concern to dip,
and I promise at all times to give mv
best efforts toward building a better
County and a better State
Our State is faced with momentous
problems The future of our people
may well be written during the com
ing months. We must face the situa
tion with courage and conviction and
with the determination to try to solve
all the problems fairly and for the
good of our people.
The government of our County and
our State belongs to the people and
YOU are the stockholders and direc
tors Let me urge all the voters of
our County to go to the polls on Sep
tember 8 and vote for the candidates
of your choice. In this way. we can
preserve and protect our Am -rican
heritage as well as our democratic
way of life.

Misses Courtney Carswell and
Carolyn Ramsey of Atlanta, en
route to Daytona Beach, spent
Saturday night with Col. and Mrs
George Carswell Miss .Judy Ann
went with them to the beach to
visit her cousin. Pat O’Rourke.

ton relatives, on the way to Day
tona Beach, were Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Culpepper. Mrs. W. C.
Trotter and children, Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Culpepper, and
Mrs Ruth Mink, all of Knoxville

join them for a week’s atay at
the beach and will come by Ir
winton to visit the folks on their
return trip this weekend.

He was a Mason and a member
of the Baptist Church.

brothers, 23 grandchildren and
5 great-grandchildren.
BIRTHDAY PARTY
Mrs. Roy Burgamy entertained
Fridav at a children’s party cele
brating her sons’ birthdays. On
that day, August 27, Eddie was
eight year old, while Monday, 30
was Michael’s second birthday.

tyre, died Tuesday at a Milledge
ville hospital. Funeral services
were held Thursday at Mt. Car_
mel Primitive Baptist church Joe
A. Moore officiated and burial
was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, five
sons, Claude, Ivey Jr., Milton,
Billy and Aubrey, all of Mclntyre
seven daughters. Mrs. Jack Jus
tice of Macon, Mrs. Wilma Whee
ler, Mrs. Jewell Fuller. Mrs Joe
Starley, and Mrs Doris Swicord,
all of Mclntyre, Mrs. L. B Har
dy of Gordon and Mrs. Audrey
Williams of Atlanta.
