Why Standard Oil Products Have
Led in Sales for 68 Years
For 68 years, Standard Oil products
have maintained sales leadership in an
industry that is intensely competitive.
This unusual record could not have
been achieved without the continued
confidence of consumers of petroleum
products in the five states we serve:
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky
and Mississippi.
The record is a testimonial of confi
dence, not only in the quality of Stand-

President Eisenhower Says Nation Needs USO
And Other UDF Services More Than Ever
“As’l see it, the big thing that the United Defense Fund does
is to keep the soldier abroad understanding that he is part of
America, no matter where he comes from, what may be his city,
what may be his race, or his religion—he still thinks, through this
kind of effort, primarily of America, and of him
self as an American,” President Eisenhower says.
“Having moved from a fighting war to an
armed peace, the nation has an even greater need
for the United Defense Fund services than was file
case during a fighting war. This paradoxical situ
ation is not clearly understood by all our citizens.
Obviously, if we are to maintain the United De
fense Fund services, particularly those of the USO,
on the high level needed to sustain the morale of the defense program,
the understanding and support of the American people are vital.’*
United Defense Fund finances USO and four other defense
related national health and welfare agencies. UDF is supported
through Community Chest or United Fund campaigns.
