Bryan County Has |
]
Made Fine Progressg
This Year,
When G. R. Austin of Savan
nah made his checking of the
books of Bryan County is wasre
vealed that the county finances
was in excellent shape,
One year ago when the audit
was mace, Bryan County owned
about S4B 000. This year when the
audit was completed Bryan Coun
ty owed $1129.00, which means
that they have reduced th :ir debts
approximately $47.000.
The county has outstanding
vouchers to the amount of $lO.-
880.32 and has cash in the bank
to the amount of $9771. 32 which
means that if every voucher was
brought in for payment it would
only like $1129 00 having enough
money to retire every one of them.
This is an excellent showing,
and especiaily when it is remem
bered that very few pople have
paid their taxes. If th= public
would come in and pay their tax.
es, our Treasurer wowd have
plenty of money.
This showing has bean made
possible by tne proper manage
mernt of the county's affairs.

‘Auto Accidents |
J “Worse Than War”l
Three Times as Many .f\meri-l
cans Annually Injured as in World ;
iWar. !
“In 1933 wore than 24,000 pec
ple were killed and more than
800,000 were injured in auto ac-|
cidents. The number of people
injured in these acecidents was
more than three times ths num
ber of Americans wounded in the
World War, according te H, H.
Dukes,
“The total loss resulting from |
therse accidents was 32,000,000,
000 or more than the annual cost
of operating our public school;
system and more than five times|
the total yearly fire loss of the
United States. !
“The possibilty of accidents isi
naturally much greaterin wet
slippery weather’’. H. H. Dukes‘
said. ‘"Many motorists risk accid- |
ents trying to make their tn'es'
last until summer so they cun!
have new tires at the start of the!
active driving season, This risk |
is unnecessary, by buving tires|
now the motorist can get the ex- |
tra safe_ty during the wet weather |
and still have practically new
tires for summer driving, as tires
wear very little in wet wcather.i
Now is the economical time to see
that your tires are safe, : I
“‘Thin worn tires should be re
placed with new tires having‘
a tread that will mininimize skidd=!
ing. The Firestone tread is scien- |
tifically designed with many
sharp angles to hold the car safe
ly on the road in all kinds of
weather.
Another advantage of obtain
ing tires now 1s the fact that you
will no doubt save considerable
as prices are headed higher”’,

The Democratic Executive Commitice
of the State of Georgia met i Atlantza
on April 7th, and drew unto themszlves
a great deal of glory through their ac

The larger ccuntied of the state are

Ware county comes forth with her
kick that they are asking for “a rew

‘county eommiitees are frothing at the
imoum and worrying themselves into
o fever in tryingz to figure some method
of holding o primary within a limited
i income, the most of them finding them
selves with @ headache and the weil
krown bag to hold.
. And while the state Committee is
basking in a lot of glory that they have
~drawn to themselves by their actions
it might be well {o give an account of
ithe enormous funds that have passed
through their hands in the various
primaries held for the state. Just what
[gues with the money is the question
'a lot of democrats are now asking. Th»
‘lstate Committee does not prorate ar,
part of the funds received as quali
‘flcatlon fees for state house offices to
any of the county committees for the
purpose of helping defray the expenses,
yet the county committees are charg

other printed matter, of employing the
