The marriage of Miss Mary Beth Strickland, daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. J, 0. Strickland »f Pembroke, to Henry J. Stokes Jr.
of Savannah, will take place Thursday evening, June 28. at the
Pembroke Baptist Church, with Dr. Van Deventer, pastor, officiating.
Mias Strickland, who is an extremely charming young woman,
received her education from Coker, College, Hartsville, S. C., the
class of 1933, where she received her A. B. degree, specializing in
dramatics and voice. She is a member of Alpha Pi Omega dramatic
fraternity. She taught expression in the Jesup HigEi School this
year. Mr. Stokes was graduated from Mercer University, Maccn,
Ga-, in 1930, after which he attended Yale University. He received
his A. B. degree from Yale in June 1933. He is a member of Phi
Delta Theta fraternity. He was ordained as pastor of the Louis
ville Baptist Church in Savannah recently.
