WAY AS ENTRY lIST CLOSES
Georgia's most unusual politi
cal campaign in years got off to o
flying start this week with only
four candidates uncpposed in
state-wide races.
Indication of the heated natur
of the campaigns that are deve o
ing was given in the crowded
hour Saturday afternton as the
entry list closec.
Just a few minutes after Kd A.
Gilliam, Atlanta Alderman, quali
fied as a surprise candidate inthe
race for Governor, he was brand
ed by Judge Claude C. Pittman.
anti-Taimadge candidate, as a
**stalking horse’’ for Talmadge.
Gilliam announced on a plat-|
form of repeal of the rrohibitinn
law, injecting an entirely new|
note into the Governor's race,
which previously kad been mark-|
ed only by the Talmadge ssue.
The Governor’s race was mark-|
ed by other developments during
the week chieflv by i':ze;:nzmmmo;
ment of J. J. Mangham, former!
chairman of the highwav boacd, |
that he would ° support !(L
Pittman.
Ranking almost with the Gover- |
nor’s race for top interest over
the state was the five cornered
fight for Commissioner of Agvieul
ture. |
A heated fight was forecast by (
the qualification. aimost simulat
aneous, of J. M_Sutton, one ol
the most bitter political enemies
of Governor Taulmadge, and Tom
Linder. the Governor's execuiive ;

k Better Beans
WO beans are better than
I one, to paraphrase the old
saw in modern slang, and if
. thig is true three beans, by the
same token, ought to be better
still. So here are three bean re
cipes, each one of which is better
than both the others, if you can
figure that out. If not, leave it to
Professor Einstein at Princeton.
Perhaps he can.
