“OUR NEIGHBORING FRIENDS”
In this week’s issue appears many cards of
appreciation from the merchants and business
men of Savannah and Savannah Beach, this is an
annual custom of our Chatham County Friends
to thank the people of Bryan County and the
Coastal Empire for the business extended to them
during the past year. Next week there will be
more of these cards of appreciation. We ask
that you look them over and when going to Sa
vannah and Savannah Beach remember these
friends of ours who solicit your business, friend
ship and extends the hand of welcome to our peo
ple when in their vicinity.
This featcre is handled by Mr. E. B. Helman,
and has been running each year for the past nine
years in The Journal and during that time Mr.
Helman has made many friends for himself and
also the Journal has added to its friends in the
neighboring City of Savannah and at the Beach
also. '
Savannah and Savannah Beach have some
thing to offer that no other city or beach has.
There you will find everything that the heart
could want, and at the price you wish to pay. If
you are a citizen of moderate means you can find
the accommodations at a price that will fit into
your financial structure. If you happen to be a
man of wealth and wish to “put on the dog”, you
can do this also, for they have the services and
accomodations fit for a king if you have the price
to pay for it. I
We are glad to be a neighbor of a city like
Savannah, for after all, what is Savannah, it is
a City made up of people from the neighboring
counties who have moved to the city to live and
do business. There is very few business con
cerns in the City of Savannah that does not have
a connection with Bryan, Bulloch, Emanuel, Tatt
nall, Evans and Liberty counties, and all the other
counties in this section have men that have gone

to the City and made good^gf
Yes, Savannah is the home?®
our own people who have gone outr^S®
for themselves and made good.
The country counties feel very friendly to- "
wards the City of Savannah. And our City
friends only ask that you spend what money with
them that will not get for you the things you
want at home. They in no way compete with the
local business men. For after all it is the duty of •
all of our citizens to patronize home merchants
first, if they have what you want and at the right
Iprice. Then if you fail, the next best bet is to go
to Savannah, where you will find friends willing
and eager to serve you.
The Journal wishes to thank the good people
of Savannah and Savannah Beach for the warm
reception they have extended to our Mr. Helman,
who is now soliciting business for his ninth year
for our paper, and most of them repeat from year
to year, which proves that our dealings with our
city friends are agreeable. And the extent of
our business grows as the years go by.
We ask our readers to remember our friends
who spend their money with us in extending
words of appreciation to our people for past
business.
