ATTEND CONFERENCE
IN MACON OCT. 28

a group of members of the
Pembroke Methodist Church

mass meeting at Mulberry St.,
Methodist Church, Macon, Ga.,
on October 28, 1949.
The meeting is one of 78 sim
ilar gatherings being held a

and His Church. “Our Faith”

taneously by the church’s eight

sions and a youth banquet in the

The Advance program repre
sents Methodism’s positive
thrust at secularism and indif
ference and has the two-fold
purpose of a deeper under
standing by the basic elements
the Christian faith and an over
all increase in missionary giv
ing, including overseas relief.
Bishop William C. Martin of
Dallas, Texas, is general chair
man of the Advance, and the
Rev. Dr- E. Harold Mohn of
Chicago is executive director.

H. G. VANBRACKLE HONOR
ED BY THE ELLABELLE
METHODIS CHURCH
At the evening service, Oc
tober 9 at the Ellabelle Meth
odist Church, Mr- H. G. Van-
Brackle was honored by the
Cnur c h School of this church,
ne promotion exercises were a
communion and candle light
service, where each child receiv
ed the communion with his
teacher and then lighted his
candle from the teachers candle.
As this was done by class after
class, the church became bright
er and brighter; this was a fi.-
ting symbol ol the light that
Jesus’ teachings bring. After
the promotion certificates were
given out, Rev. Bruce Wilson
spoke a few words of apprecia
tion lor the church school Su
perintendent and presented him
with a lovely fountain pen, the
gift of the church school; Mr.
Vanßrackle graciously express
ed his appreciation. He has
served as church school superin
tendent of the Ellabelle church
lor a number of years and dur
ing his administration the
church school has grown from a
struggling few to a large and
thriving affair- It was in re
cognition of his years of ser
vice and quality of leadership
that this expression of apprec
iation was made.
