Gene'al Armstrong Finishes Two Years
B General Clare H. Armstrong is finishing
his two years as Commanding General of Camp
Stewart reservation. He has done an outstanding job
at Stewart, not only in a military manner but along
the Hr • of good will between the surrounding terri
tory azd Camp Stewart. Today the people of Pem
biroke it cl very close and kindly towards (.amp
Stewart, and this is something that has come about
thrm . i the efforts of General Armstrong.
Ye editor numbers General Armstrong as among
his N; friends, he has visited in our home many
times, and we have been his guest at Camp Stewart
at hi < wiquarters on many occasions. We know him
as a to neral and then we know him as just an ordi
nary American citizen.
In our estimation he is tops in both.
IP re’s hoping that his reign at Camp Sewart■
has ju I begun and that we will have him there as ■
the Commanding General for a long time.
NOTICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS
WE WILL BE CLOSED FROM DEC. 25th

Sometime ago a banker friend |
said to the writer, “Dr. Jones,
why is it so many men criticize
evangelists and Christian work
ers? Why is it they are so often
misrepresented and slandered?”
That friend asked an important
question and I will give you my
answer to him. “You have a bank.
The devil is not againt your bank
one way or the other. There is
a store up the street and the devil
is neither a friend or an enemy
of that store. He is not interested.
You go get a sign and put it
put it out in front of your bank
and say, ‘This bank stands un
qualifiedly for the Word of God.
It is a Christian institution. It be- I
lieves the Bible from cover to cov- ■
er. It believes that God created!
man in His own image and man j
fell into sin. It believes that Jesus
Christ died on the cross shedding ■
! His blood for the redemption of'
a lost world. This bank stands un- :
j qtialifiedly for the old time re- j
’ ligion and the absolute authority;
of the Bible!’ Put out that sign j
and you will make the devil angry
ami he will be against your bank.” j
: As soon as Jesus Christ was
I born the devil tried to kill him. j
iThe religionists of His day hound
ed Him wherever He went. Hei
was lied about. They said He wash
no friend to Caesar. They spat I
ion Him. They put n crown of
ithorns on His brow. They nailed
-Him on the cross. His opposition
-was nothing but satanic opposition. ।
IThe devil was against Him. John;
I the Baptist got his head cut off I
I because he told the truth. The!
j apostle I’aul was persecuted be
। cause many of the Jews of His j
j day wanted the world to believe I
Jesus Christ was dead Paul told i
| them that He was not dead, that]
I He had met Him on the Damascus I
; road. The early church was per- I
secuted because Christians would
not compromise. Martin Luther,
I John Knox, John Wesley, Dwight I
: 1.. Moody, and every great un .
! compromising preacher in the
, world has been lied about and ;
| slandered. Beware of the ministei '
I about whom you have never heard
a slander. “Woe be unto you when
I all men speak well of you.” If you
I live godly you will suffer perse
| cution.
