Veterans Administration offices.. 1
The pamphlet is designed to help <
World War II and Post-Korean
veterans get started on the right :
foot under the GI home loan pro
gram, said Vaux Owen, Manager .
of the Regional Office. <
The pamphlet discusses what a '
veteran should look for in selecting l
the neighborhood, the lot and the
house itself. .
It also covers the costs of home ,
ownership, the contract of pur
chase, final settlement or closing 1
the loan, and what to expect before l
and after moving into a new home.
The responsibilities of the vet
eran home owner and whiat the VA ,
can and cannot do to assist the
veteran are also discussed.
A copy of the pamphlet will be
sent to each veteran applying for a
certificate of eligibility for a GI
loan. Veterans also may obtain
a copy by writing the nearest VA
Regional Office. There is no
charge for the pamphlet.
Local Man Again
Heads Christian
Church Conference
Robert Bowers was named to
serve his second term as president
of the Savannah District Confer
ence of Christian Churches at the
annual meeting of that group which
met last week at Shellman's Bluff.
During the one day session the
business of the conference was at
tended to, with various speakers
contributing to the success of the
day.
Ground has been broken for the
swimming pool at the Christian
church camp site and the plans
call for its completion by the time
the first camp is held late in June.
The carload attending from Pem
broke enjoyed the good food that
was served between the mrning
and afternoon sessions.

Friday night, June 12, at 8 o’clock
at the Advent Christian church in ।
Pembroke. The Rev. C. H. Dußois,
Jr., Swainsboro, pastor of the
church, and pastor as Minton
Chapel near Swainsboro, will per
form the ceremony.
Following the ceremony at the
church, the parents of the bride
elect will entertain the wedding
party with a reception at their
home.
Miss Dußois was a first honor
graduate of this year's B. C. H.
S. graduating class and will re
turn Saturday -from the class trip
to Washington, D. C. Not only
was she outstanding scholastically,
but also excelled in literary,
music, and athletic events.
C. L. Purvis, who will teach the
newly organized Men's Bible Class
of the Pembroke Methodist churoh
beginning Sunday morning at
10:30.
The condition of Mrs. J. J. Hurst,
Sylvester, mother of J. O. Hurst
of Black 'Creek, remains serious
and Mr. and Mrs. Hurst are mak
ing constant visits to her bedside.
Her condition has been critical
for several weeks.

kin of Joseph F. Lanier to be and

time allowed by law, and show
cause, if any they can ,why per
manent letters of administration
should not be granted to Frank
Hendry on the Joseph F. Lanier
estate.
