Lt. W. 0. Lee
Home For Visit
From Alaska
The many friends of Lt. W. O.
Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland
Lee and son-in-law of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank O. Miller, will be
pleased to know that he is in
Pembroke on a short visit,
He brought a jet plane back
from Alaska to a point in Mon
tana, then on to Pembroke on his
own. He was accompanied to
Pembroke by his uncle, Hon. Leon
A. Lee, of Dalton.
Billy, his father, Roland, and
his uncle Leon are doing some
fishing while here, having gone
to the coast to try their luck.
Lt. Lee will leave Pembroke
Monday for his return to Anchor
age, Alaska, where he is stationed
with the U. 8. Air Force.

ried Miss Ann Sims, daughter of

Pembroke Club to
Entertain Council
At Luncheon
3 The Pembroke Home Demon
stration Club will entertain mem
bers of the Bryan County Home
Demonstration Council at the
council’s next meeting on Thurs
day, May 26, with a luncheon.
The luncheon will he held at the
Community House, according to
plans made Monday afternoon at
‘meeting of the Pembroke Club,
Details will be worked out by a
committee appointed by the pres
ident, Mrs. G. B. Williams. At the
same time the county dress revue
will be held,
During the meeting which was
held at the home of Mrs. L. M.
Anderson a committee was named
for the club’s booth at the county
fair, Headed by Mrs. L. M. An
derson, with Miss Lula MeGahee,
Mrs. Effie Johnson, Mrs. M. N.
Starling and Mrs, C, F. Warnell
working with her, the committee
will work up the health theme
which has been chosen by the
group,
The luncheon committee is com
posed of Mrs. C. F, Warnell, Mrs.
Perry Parrish, Mrs. Effie John
son and Mrs. W. H. Dußois.
The club met at the home of
Mrs. L. M. Anderson, who served
delicious refreshments to mem
bers present.
MRS, T. T. OSTEEN ‘
IS PATIENT IN |
SAVANNAH HOSPITAL
Mrs. T. T. Osteen of near Pem-!
broke has been a patient at St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah for
several days. A late report from
Mr. Osteen was that his wife was
resting comfortably and \vouldi
probably return home within a f(\\\"
days.
Dr. A, J. Osteen, Camilla, Mr,(
and Mrs, Osteen’s son, is occupy
ing a room adjoining his mother.
Dr. Osteen entered the hospital
last Thursday and has since un
dergone a major operation, He is?
expected to be there for 10 or 15
days.
Dr, Osteen is a veterinarian and
is well known in and around Pem
broke.
Mr. and Mrs. Osteen have a host
of friends both here and in Sa
vannah, who hope that Mrs. Os
teen and their son will continue
to improve.
While her husband is confined
to the hospital, Mrs. A. J. Osteen
stays with him during the day and
at night is with her father-in-law,

meeting was held at the home of

Mrs. H. M. Gardner, The booth
| will cary out the theme of home

Mrs. H. M. Gardner gave the de
| votional and the demonstration, by
| Mrs, Ora C. Payne, home demon
| stration agent, was on clothing.

Wednesday night Mrs, J. L.
Arnold entertained her young
granddaugnter, Judy Waxer, with
an ice cream party on the lawn
of her attractive home. Judy, with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A,
Waxer, and brother Jerry, have
been visiting Mrs. Arnold and
other relatives in the south for
two weeks.
The young guests made the ice
cream themselves in an old—sash-!
ioned crank freezer. Games were
played before and after the re
freshments were served. Assist
ing Mrs. Arnold was her daugh
ter, Mrs, Waxer. G
