Griffin Motorcade To Statesboro
Saturday Afternoon to be Big One
Indications are that the motorcade to the Griffin speaking at
Statesboro Saturday afternoon July 21st will be a big affair. We
are told that there will be plenty of room for every one that wishes
to go, and all Griffin supporters are urged to meet in Pembroke
by 2 P.M., so that all the details can be worked out and the motor
cade can get off from here by 2:15, as it is hoped to have the motor
cade reach Statesboro by 3 P.M.
The speaking will be on the Court House Square and will be
gin at 3:30 and will be carried over a national hookup of radio
stations and will also be televised.
The Griffin for Governor Club of Bryan County is anxious for
Bryan to make a good showing in this motorcade and join with
the throngs from other sections of Georgia for the speaking in
Statesboro. Remember if you haven’t away to travel and wish
to go be sure and be down where the motorcade leaves from, just
East pf the Gulf Station on U. S. 280 and there will be transpor
‘ation for all that wish to go.

69th Birthday
Sunday was a big day at Need
more Farm, for that was the date
for the annual birhday party of
Frank 0. Miller, whose birthday is
July 16, but celebrated on the Sun
day nearest his birthday, and this
year that day was Sunday, July
15th. This years party was small
er than usual, many of our friends
were not invited because we had
to cut down on the crowd, for
more than one reason, as much as
we would have liked to have thrown
the doors open and invited all to
come, eat, drink and lie merry with
us.
Those that were there said that
this years party was the best, the
barbecue was prepared by that old
“master,” Hurley Surrency, assist
ed by Sol Clantan, the meat was
cooked for 13 hours and every one
said it was the most delicious they
had ever eaten. Our good friend J.
D. Cason had charge of the sea
soning and cutting up of the meat,
and the family and some friends
helped with the serving.
Among those from out of town
were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith
of Valdosta, Ga.; Mrs. Sarah Rog
ers of Raleigh. N. C.; Mr. and Mrs.
Eric Gatch, and their son-in
law and daughter and two grand
children from Charleston, S. C.;
Mr. and Mrs. N. I. Blitch and their
daughter Dorothy of Hollywood, S.
■ C.; Mr. and Mrs. John Gatch, Sa
vannah, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Edenfield of Savannah; and the
following from Statesboro, Mr. and
Mrs. W. 0. Stubbs; Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Bland; Mr. and Mrs. Emit
Akins; Mr. and Mrs. John Wald;
Mrs. Minnie Mikell, Mrs. Tessie
Riggs, Mrs. Bill Olliff, Mrs. Lucy
Dominy and her daughter. Mrs.
Mildred Prosser, Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Nesmith of Nevils came
early and helped us entertain those
coming. These names are taken
from memory and perhaps we have
missed some of them, but if we
have it was not intentional.
We enjoyed the day, the gifts,
the friendship amt look forward ,
to our 70th one.
