ganized for pecuniary gain or profit,

declare dividends and no part of its net
r-rnings shall inure to the benefit of
'petitioners, their associates, succes-
sors, or members.

The Corporation shall have the
power to enter into, or become a
partner in, any arrangement fox' shar
ing profits, union of interest, co-opera
tion, joint venture, or otherwise, with
any person, firm or corporation now
carrying on ox- about to carry on any
business which this Corporation has

County. Georgia.

The affairs of this Corporation shall
be governed by a Board of Directors,
to be chosen as set forth in the By-
Laws.

Attached to this petition is a certi
ficate from the Secretary of State, of
the State of Georgia, showing that the
name of this Corporation is not the
name of any other existing corpora
tion now registered in his office.
WHEREFORE. Petitioners pray to be

Former Pembroke
Woman Is Mercer
Alumni Officer J
Dr. Rufus C. Harris, Mercer
University president, was guest
speaker Tuesday night of last week
at the organizational meeting of
the Savannah area Mercer alumni.
Arranging for the meeting was a
committee headed by Mrs. Dan De
. Loach, the former Miss Shirley
Dukes. During the business ses
sion Mrs. DeLoach was elected as
treasurer on the new slate of offi
cers.
Other officers elected were Gene
Dyar, president, and John Lytjen,
secretary. Hansell Hillyer was
elected chairman of the executive
committee and Frank C. Under
wood vice chairman. Also a mem
ber of the executive committee is
George C. Martin, Ellabell.
In his speech to the 72 persons
in attendance, Dr. Harris said that
higher teachers’ salaries and addi
tional library science and fine arts
facilities lead the list of needs of
the Macon University in future
yea rs.
A graduate of Mercer Univer
sity, Mrs. DeLoach is active in the
alumni organization, having been
an outstanding student, during her
years at the Macon school.

Attend School of
Missions in Aug.
■ _ Methodist women of the South
Georgia Conference will hold their
annual school of missions and
, Christian service August 6-10 at
Wesleyan College. More than 500
persons are expected to attend.
1 Expecting- to attend from the
Pembroke Methodist Church are
one member who will represent the
local WSCS and two others who
"'ill represent the Savannah Dis
trict and the Conference itself.
Sponsored by the Women’s So
ciety of Christian Service, the
school is held each year to orient
Methodist women on the work of
the church in foreign and home
missions and to discuss various
other avenues of "Christian serv
ice.”
Mrs. A. I. Rhoden, WSCS pres
ident, will be the delegate from
the Pembroke society. Mrs. A. V.
Anderson, secretary of Student
Work for the Savannah District,
will represent both the Pembroke
society and the District. Mrs, H,
D. Griper, also a member of the
Pembroke WSCS, is vice president
oi the South Georgia Conference,
WSCS, and will do double duty at
I the session.

the vice president s workshop, as
well as carrying put the duties of i

will stay at Wesleyan College,
where the school will be conducted. I

courses for the 500 delegates will ,
include "The Christian Mission on
the Rin of East Asia,” “Today’s i
Children for Tomorrow’s World,”
"Prayer,” and the "Bible Hour.”

At Luncheon
Miss Janice Smith was hostess
at a luncheon on Friday of last '
week in honor of Miss Marilyn
Wester of Odum who was .visiting
Miss Smith and Mrs, Hoy William
son.
The table in the dining room was
attractively decorated with sum
mer flowers. Assisting Miss Smith
in serving wns her mother, Mrs.
W. E. Smith.
Miss Wester, along with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Wes
ter and other members of the
family, are former residents
of Pembroke, having moved to
Odum several years ago.
Eriends invited to be at the de
lightful event with Miss Smith
and Miss Wester were Miss Kay
DeLoach, Miss Brenda Bazemore,
Miss Mary Lane, Miss Bonita
Strickland, Miss Jean Beardglee,
Miss Doris Bacon and Miss Linda
Raulerson.
Mrs. Harold Alford and daugh
ters, Debra and Nancy, Middle
town, Pa., are visiting her par
ents. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bradley.
They will be in Pembroke for about
six weeks while Mr. Alford is at *
Cape Canaveral, after which they J
will return to Middletown where a

TO N. C. BASE
Airman Third Class Janies D.
Olliff, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J.
Olliff of Ellabell, is being reas
signed to Seymour Johnson AFB,
N. C., following his graduation
from the United States Air Force
technical training course for base
fuel supply specialists at Amarillo
Air Force Base in Texas.
Airman Olliff was trained to
fuel aircraft, using trailers, tank
cars, flight line storage tanks and
associated pumping systems, and
in Ihe safety precautions to be ob
served during- fueling operations.
A former student at Richmond
। Hill (Ga.) High School, the air-
I man entered the Air Force in
March.
