All-Stars Take
To the Highway
The Pembroke All-Stars, made
up of players from the Pembroke
Softball League, won a double
header from the Highway Depart
ment out of Savannah. The first
game was a nine inning affair with
the All-Stars winning 22 to 2.
For the locals, it was a matter
of defense. The outfield pulled in
line drives and the infield turned
many potential base hits into easy
outs.
The Highway Department, man
aged by Harry Sikes, was some
what short handed due to the
weather conditions. They have re
scheduled a game for August 23
and “Bugger” says that things will
be different then.
For the visitors they had only
three hits in the first game while
the locals were pounding out 24.
Tim Page was the w inning
pitcher.
