Unusual Accident
Causes Bryan Man
To Crush Hand
A crushed hand was received by
W. C. Burnsed, prominent Bryan
County man, when the jack with
which he was raising his car to
fix a flat tire, slipped somehow
catching his hand as it fell.
i In some manner Mr. Burnsed’s
left hand was crushed in the mis
'hap so severely that the index fin
ger had to be amputated. He was
rushed to Bulloch County Hospital
where he was treated for shock as
well as receiving emergency treat
ment for his hand.
The accident happened on Wed
nesday of last week and Mr. Burn
sed returned to his home on Mon
’day. His hand is heavily bandag
{ed and doctors say it will take
some time for the hand to heal
entirely from the severe bruises
and lacerations received.
His many friends regret the un
fortunate occurrence and hope
nothing will happen to hinder his
hand from healing.
Sav’h Man Breaks
.
Leg in Fall
It has been learned with much
regret that Layton Bacon, Savan
nah, formerly of Pembroke, broke
his leg in a fall at his home.
’ Bacon, son of Mrs. Bertie Ba
'('un, spent several weeks in the
hospital when he received critical
%injuries' in a car wreck some time
lago. The leg that he broke re
!«'cmly is the same one broken in
the car accident.
The new break is near the knee
{Joint and doctors are hopeful that
|they can put on a brace instead
rof subjecting him again to the dis
rcomfort of a cast, Although he
'is at his home now, Bacon will
iprububly go to Memorial Hospital
iwhen the brace or cast is put on.
