of fall harvest time in our room,
We enjoy our trip to the Library
every Thursday.

We are having fun planning for
Halloween activities.

We had our first class meeting
recently. David Warnell presid
ed. Two bulletin board commit
tees were set up. Doing a Hallo-
Iween scene were Shirley Bacon,
Lynn DeLoach, and William Lane.

We are happy to have Brenda
Aldrich back at school. She was
in the hospital for a few days.

ing about the Near East. In Spell

fifty words, We have been going
to the library every Friday at 1:30,
Mrs, Morrison has just finish
ed reading to us the book “The
Black Stallion” and has started
“The Black Stallion Returns.”
We are sorry that Eddie Shu
man, Elizabeth Beckworth, and
Nancy Jackson have moved away.
We have music every Monday
and Wednesday., Mrs, Gerken is
our music teacher, and we enjoy

Evan Page for selling the most

Midway Planned
For Nov. 10
“A Day At Historic Midway”
will be the theme of the event
planned for Saturday, November
10 by the finance committee of
Saint John’s Parish Chapter,
Daughters of the American Colon
ists,
There will be guided tours of
Midway Congregational Church,
the adjacent cemetery, and of Mid
way Colonial Museum.
A bazaar in the assembly room
of the Museum will be an added
attraction.
Price of the tickets will be SI.OO
and school children 60c. Tea, cof
fee and cookies will be included
in the price of the ticket. Sand
wiches and box lunches will be for
sale,
Proceeds from the day’s events
will be used for the benefit of
Ithe Museum.

Opens Mon., Oct.

The Effingham County Fair
opens in Springfield on Monday
with many new attractions, which
include a parade, a speech by the
Congressman, gala opening cere
monies, bigger than ever midway,
more exhibits, and a horse frolic.
The first activity will be the
parade on Monday afternoon, Oct.
22, beginning at 4:30. A large
number of entries have been sche
duled to take part in the parade
and will include floats, decorated
cars and other vehigdes, bands,
other marching units, and horses.l
The parade will go through!
Springfield and end at the fair
grounds, which are at the Na-l
tional Guard Armory.
The Congressman, G. Elliottl
Hagan, will make a short address
and take part in the official open
ing of the fair, immediately fol
lowing' the parade.
According to P, W. Clifton,
chairman of the fair committee,
this will be the largest and best
fair Effingham has ever had. Not
only will there be more exhibits
but the midway will feature the
most attractions ever, |
The fair will be Monday through i
Saturday with the gates opening |
at 6 p.m., except Saturday when’
they will open at 12 noon.
A new feature for the fair wi]ll

The fair committee extends a
special invitation to their friends
and neighbors in Bryan County to
come and enjoy the fair with them. |

Club News
The 6th Grade 4-H Club met
Thursday, October 11, in the school
library, We elected our officers
for the new years. They are J.

Shuman, boy’s vice president; Judy
McEߥveen, girl’s vice president;
Marolyn Wilson, secretary; Ran
dall Cowart, parliamentarian;
Phil Odum, program chairman;
Clara Carter, reporter; Janell

leaders.
We also selected our projects.

pledge before adjournment.

is delaying naming the baby until
his father comes home from

Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bacon.
