vSAMUEI, Iv. TRJMMIKR,
WHY NOT TELL THE TRUTH?
Whnt is the world coming
to? What will be the end if
we select men to till the high
offices of state from the rab¬
ble seeking such places?
There is not a man in the
race for governor who but is
so infernal mean and treach¬
erous that we would be afraid
to trust wdth our money.
The congressional timber is
in the same awful
Not a piece that would split
straight—knotty. Some o f
it is doty to the heart, and ter
ribly “wind*’ shaken.
The above history of the
several candidates has been
gathered from newspaper re
ports over the state; papers
that are for the other fellow,
of course,
“Every man has his faults’’
but there is not a man living,
not barring the aspirants for
office, but has some good
traits. A suck-egg dog has
them, a rattle snake has them.
Everything has something
gooci about it, even the can
didxfte; and in justice to hu
manity there should be some
thing good said about some
body sometime even if he
does want to go to congress
or be made governor.
The people want to know
how much good there is in a
man who wants to be made
guardian of their affairs, but
they will never know if it is
left to the newspapers, for
bitter vituperations and long
winded spiels against every
thing and everybody except
their especial favorite is the
order of things.
Suppose the world
turn topsy turvy and after
regaining her equilibrium the
order of things should be so
changed that there would be
no‘‘backbiting’'and
ing false witness” in it. If
we are not very much mista
ken, a great thankful shout
of glory-halleluiah would Ig
heard in the land.
In this week’s issue you
will find the announcement of
Samuel L. Trimmier. Mr.
Tnmmier wants to represent
Murray county in jhe nexf
general assembly He is one
of the oldest and best known
citU.ns in the county and
true and tired demount.

FITE-HEARTS1LL AFFAIR.
It is most strikingly
icant that the press of
Seventh District is
in disapproving the
of Judge Fite in having
or Heartsill indicted for
i n g a few things about him
return for his remarks
the Argus. The people as
whole resent this
Any effoit to prevent
speech or free, press, should
meet the condemnation
every honest man, for in them
He the salvation of honest
government. Any effort to
use unfair means by either
the press or the courts meets
the disapproval of everybody,
especially is this true where
an officer abuses his power
to punish his enemy. Fair
play is demanded by every
one, nothing short of this will
satisfy, judge Fite’s conduct
in this connection was a dis
appointment to his friends
here, who thought him too
big and too brave a man to
go to the courts in so small a
matter. Judge Fite once
made the remark, or at least
he was credited with it, that
lie would not sit in
a man’s case to whom he
did not speak, and the same
had won him friends and ad
mirers here, but now that Mr.
Heartsill, should be indicted,
especially so in Bartow
County, is disappointing to
Judge Fite’s friends here,
There is an undercurrant of
disapproval in this connection,
which will not strengthen
Judge Fite’s candidacy in
Cobb County. It was quite a
mistake, even his friends say
so an d he had quite a number
f them here. Courts were
not created to adjuSt differ .

ARE BUSY.
Most people like to trade at a
store where there is “something;
doing.” In fact they deliberately
shun a store where the proprietor
and his clerks are up to their
necks in dust, ainbeer and white
pine shavings. None of that at
our stone. We keep it always
neat and the goods clean and the
prices attractive and each of our
clerks are anxious to SERVE and
PLEASE you.
We try to turn our dollar twice
white the other fellow is turning
his once. This is why you will
find our prices always as Sow and
frequently lower than others.

-------J-----—-- ---------------
Our patrons what they want. We do not try to induce
them to take something else. If a customer wants Hood’s
Sarsaparilla, he gets Hood’s Sarsaparilla. He is not im
portuned to take our own make. We like to treat our
customers right. It is both pleasant and profitable. We
have built up the largest drug establishment in Dalton by
gratifying our patrons’ wishes. There is no reason why
everybody in Murray Comity should not trade here. We
can give them decidedly the best service and our prices
are fixed altogether according to what things are worth.
