In Loving Memory.
The angel of death visited our
home Saturday, November 24,
and took away our dear father.
The world indeed, seems
empty and cheerless. The one
upon whom we have lavished our
affection is now in t! at land
“where the weary are at rest.”
Ho said, “I’m so tired—I’m
nearly worn out, but I’m on the

For him, the cup of suffering
was removed—“God willed that
he should drink it to its bitter

It vvas his desire to live , for

was ready and willing at any
time the Lord might call him.
Our only consolation is that
our heart’s idol has heard the
words from the Father’s lips,
“well done, thou good and faith¬
ful servant. Enter thou into
the joys of thy Lord.”
Our consolation is found in a
consideration of the fact that our
treasure is in heaven. The poor
worn frame will nevermore be
racked with the agonies of paiib.
Suffering is at an end. But
’twill only be a little while till
wj will cross the dark river and
join our dear one among the hosts
of the saved on the other shore.
“Blessed are the dead which die
in the Lord.”
We miss thee from our home,

We miss thee from thy place,

Our home is dark without thee,
We miss thee everywhere.

Would Bar Claims
Against Her Land
Mrs. Mary E. White, of
state of New York, and Mrs. C.
W. Martino, of Florida, have pe¬
titioned in the United States
court that the claims of the Ap
alachian Gold Mining, Smelting
and Refining company, and of E.
R. Love. E. A. Earnest, T. R.
Bates and P. Theodore Leiter, to
some mining lands in Murray
county lie declared invalid.
They assert that these lands
were left to them on the death
of their father, W. L. Lampkin,
and that the value of their pos¬
sessions is affected by the alleged
invalid claims of those mentioned
in the petition.
The mining lands referred to
are located in land lots 2i50 and
261 of the 26tb district of Murray
county. Thesr value is said to
exceed $2,(04. The attorneys for
complainants are McDaniel, Als

Free Alcohol Dili
Will Be Amended.
Washington. January “28.—
Amendments to the free school
bill which have seemed necessa¬
ry to compkte the purpose of the
act as passed last winter have
been incorporated in a bill intro¬
duced by Representative Hill, of
Connecticut, and which probably
will pass. The commissioner of
internal revenue, John W. Yer
kes, of Kentucky, took all the
bilis offered and boiled them
down and the Hili bill is the re¬
sult.
The amendments as incorpora¬
ted in this new measure will aid

Section 2 of the Hill bill pro¬
vides ror the arthorization of
central denaturing bonded ware
houses, not to exceed five in any
one collection district, to which
alcohol may be transferred from
distilleries and there denatured
by the addition of an agent which
will render the product unfit for
drinking purposes, after which it
may he withdrawn tax-free.
Section 3 provides for the t rans
fer of denatured alcohol by pipe
lines or in lank-cars, giving it
the advantage of transportation
method enjoyed by petroleum
products.
Section 4 p.o.ides that distil¬
leries producing alcohol for dena¬
turation only and having a daily
capacity of less than 100 prof gal¬
lons a day, may use cisterns or
tanks, under bond, in lieu ofgja
bonded warehouse. This will
make the “farm distillery” a
possipility, and every funner
may make his own illuminating
j fluid if lie so desires, under reg¬
illations of the internal ie venue
bureau.
The advocates of this bill say
its passage will give the Stan¬
dard Oil its most dangerous com¬
petitor. *
