GREAT DAY
AT CHATSWORTH
Music, Sale, Dinner, Bail
Game and Everything Else
Was Enjoyed by all
Who Attended.
LOTS WERE SOLD
FOR GOOD PRICES
Thousands ol People Were Present
—Many Lots Were Sold—Big Din¬
ner—Spring Place and Dalton
Teams Clashed in the Afternoon.
Possibly the largest c> \ d ever
assembled in Ohatsnmih was
that of last Thursday . t h»*
ous Fourtk of July,. th>*
birthday, when the .safe !>■!.
in our sister city took place.
The Chatswortii Land Go. p
pared dinner for uL u f t.ivc •
fifteen hundred people; numb
of Murray coanty people had well
filled baskets and enjoyed a
spread, while hundreds were ac
commodafced at the Hotel DeSoto.
Nearly one hundred lots were
sold which brought the company
a very satisfactory price.
Chatswortii real estate is al¬
most worth double what it was
one year ago, and the price of
dirt is still advancing in that
thriving place.
In the afternoon a game of
baseball was played between
Spring Place and Dalton teams
resulting in a victory for the lat¬
ter by a score ufjfi U*40. It was
more a slugging match than any¬
thing else, as hits were plentiful
ou both sides, and runs were
more than a few.
Felker pitched a nice game
for Dalton, making a sensational
one-handed catch of Dickson’s
liner.
Groves and Dickson did the
twirhug for Spring Place.
Groves pitched nice ball for
the Spring Place boys and with
the proper support would have
won his game with ease.
The way the Spring Place beys
look at - things they were the
victims of many unfair decisions,
given by his utnps, Mr. Malone.
Robinson and Dickson both
starred in the game for the lo¬
cals, Dickson being the only
man on either team knocking a
home run. Robinson on first,
played professional bull, accept¬
ing every chance without an er
ror and getting four hits out of
five times at bat.
