FJ JRTtI OF JULY CASUALTIES.
As a result of too much pa
tiiotUm in celebrating the
Glorious Fourth in the United
States last Thursday thirty
seven were killed and two
thousand one hundred and
fifty-three were maimed, not
including five drowned. A
number of the maimed are
not expected to recover.
The roster of the dead is
four more than last year s
mortality, but the list of
maimed is six hundred and
thirty-six less than last year.
New York gave up more
lives than any other city, giv¬
ing up ten; Pittsburg was h
close second with nine
deaths; Chicago, the sec
end city in size in the United
States, oftly yielded two lives
to the grim reaper; Spring
field, Ill,, supplied three vic¬
tims; Chatham, 111, two, and
Aberdeen, S. D., two. No
other town in the country
gave up more than one of its
own to death.
The figures show that this
year, as well as last, most oi
the casualties were due to the
careless handling of firecrack
ers and other harmless (?)
explosives.
Victims of gunpowder this
year stand second in number,
but show a marked decrease
from last year’s figures.
The crusade against the
deadly toy pistol seems to be
bearing fruit, as this year only
two hundred and five victims
tire reported as against three
hundred and four of last year,
a decrease of ninety nine.
The Glorious Fourth is im¬
proving in some way and in
others it is becoming more
destructive to both life and
property.
When the baby is teething it
is cross and lostless; it becomes
feverish, and in many cases vom¬
its a great deal aud oftentimes
cannot even keep cool water on
the stomach. All the delicate
little organs of the stomach are
a fleeted, bringing on colic aud
diarrhoea. Gascasweet for ba¬
bies and children makes the
stomach right and allays inflam
ation. Cascasweets makes the
baby happy and well. Sold by
S. II. Kelly.

Nearly all old-fashioned Cough
Syrups are constipating, especial¬

They don’t act just, right. Ken¬

the cold out of the system by
gently moving the bowels. Con¬

Our patrons what they want. We do not try to induce
them to take something else. If a customer wants Hood’s
Sarsaparilla, he gets Flood’s Sarsaparilla. He is not imS
portuned to take our own make. We like to treat our
customers right. It is both pleasant and profitable. We
have built up the largest drug establishment in Dalton by
gratifying our patrons’ wishes. There is no reason why
everybody in Murray Connty should not trade here. We
can give them decidedly the best service and our prices
are fixed altogether according to what things'are worth.
