HORSEPLAY MARKS LAST
SESSION OF HOUSE
Orators Are Rapped in Resole*
tion, and Body Selects
“Wei” Chattanooga
lor Next Session.
Scenes of revelry and indul¬
gence in jokes and fun-making
always mark the closing hours ot
t he Georgia legislature, and the
Saturday-niglit-Sunday -morning*
session of the present legislature
made no depart ure from the tirm
honored precedent which governs
Hucli occasions.
Realizing that there was a
prospect of a long wait before
the house and senate conferences
would reach an agreement on the
looker tax, the fun-making com¬
menced in the house shortly
before the hour of midnight.
As soon the house had relaxed
from the strict decorum which
marks its conduct, Speaker
Slaton’s guidance, there wen
mils for Mr. Covington of Col
quitt.
The gentleman from Colquitt
attempted to make response,
whereupon a member cried :
“1 raise the point of order, Mr.
Speaker, that the gentleman
from Colquitt is not at his seat.
“The gentleman from Colquitt
has no seat,” said Speaker
Slaton, a comment upon the
penchant ot that gentleman i t)!
wandering about the house and'
occupying oilier seats than his
own which provoked' shouts of
laughter.
Mr. Austin of Murray was
called to the chair ami responded
to the call. His first rap with
the gavel was the signal for
a bombardment of his position
with pamphlets and papers.
They were fairly rained upon
him, but he stood his ground and
returned the fire, after which
the attempts to dislodge him
were abandoned, and he ran the
mock session to suit himself.
jjJjThe following resolution was
introduced by Mr. Glenn of
5V bitfield, causing roars of laugh¬
ter at the expense of gentlemen
v ho were the subject of Mr.
(iieitn’s good-natured humor:

from kidney and bladder disor¬

as it corrects irregularities and
has cuied many old men of this
