Everything has been quiet
in the city for several days —
people’s gone to work, and
the “gee-haw” of—well,
nearly everybody—can be
heard on every side.

in this issue don’t say much

TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS.
With last week’s issue we
have been in charge of The:
Murray News as editor and
publisher for one year, and,
during that time have added
quite a number of new names
on our subscription list, while
a few have been taken off
This week finds that several
were taken off for the rim, 1
reason that the postal laws
a'e such that we cannot send
a paper to anyone who is as
much as twelve months in
arrears.
We hope to add new names
to our list every day now ui -
til the list is larger than ever,
and to put all our old su! •
s;ribers on again.
It any subscriber's paper
fails to reach you this week
you may know that you are
one year in arrears.
Please see to this and don’t
have your paper stopped on
this account. If you want
your paper stopped tell • us
about it, and, if we cannot
convince you that you ought
to take it, we will surely stop
it.

THE MURRAY NEWS, FRIDAY, MARCH 30. IMS.
Texas Letter.
. Greenville, Tex,,
March H) lfK)8,
Editor Murray Mews,
Dear Sir:—I have just finished
reading Tup Murray News and
don’t see why I lived so long
without having this paper to
come to my tome every week,
for every scrap of it is interest¬
ing new* to me, and especially
since that brown-eyed girl con
depended to write a few words
about me. She talks like she is
getting old, but it seems to me
like she is that same y»u»g girl.
She sure enough is a good old
girl, and always was just as good
looking as she could be. Now
To I, don’tyou take any exception
to what I say, for you are away
back there, and I am away out
here in Texas. You can brag on
Annie as much as please anyway
Mollie, 1 never will forget that
cotton picking at “Uncle” Har¬
rison OsbornY, and L am sure
coming to Georgia this summer
and help you eat some of those
chickens. I hope to hear from
you again.
1 am very sorry to hear that
my best friend Uapt. W. K,
Davis, is dead. He was a good
useful man to his country. We
all join in with his family and
relatives in their sorrows and
loss of a true husband and
father.
We are having some fine farm¬
ing weather. Most' all of the
farmers m this section are done
planting corn. All of them have
their cotton land ready to plant
waiting for the proper time to
plant. The farmers are further
along with their work than I ever
saw them at this season of the
year before. Everything is put¬
ting out green like summer. It,
will soon be picnic time with us.
1 bought about 225 bales , of
cotton last week, I paid IO-.75 to
11.50 for the best grades, Tne
0ptton is nearly all sold. 1 tfojpk
about 500 h
balance of it. The Furim-rd
Union have *200 bales in ware¬
house in Greenville. 1 guess
there is 1800 bales all over tiie
county unsold.
Henry Ayers and family will
leave here Tuesday night fur old
Georgia, their first choice, to
reside the remainder of their
days. Henry is a good old boy
ami he lias a good family, but
they say Texas is too small for
them. I was like them when J
first came out here and so was
Annie, but we was not so for¬
tunate as to be able to get back
until we got use to drinking
sabbine water, and now you
0 >uId not run us away, and wo
have got so many children we
got- away. 1 hate for
Henry Ayers, to g<- back, lie has
made many friends while he e.
but his Alice says she is just
going back anyhow, and 1 tell
ns poor men have to do
what our women say do,
l would like to write a long
letter, but I see The News, is
full of dots this week and I don’t
want to crowd any of the Murray
dots out, for l do love to read
them. With success to line
