BIG CONVENTION
OF ODD FELLOWS
The district Contention of Odd Fellows will he LeMrt Calhoun
Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25. A number of l eading mem
bers of the order from other sect ions together with representatives
of the Grand Lodge are expected to be present and make ad¬
dresses. exercises,
Friday will be devoted <0 public and a big punic
will be held in Wildwood Bark (the thicket) where everybody is
invited to attend, taking with them well filled, baskets. A plat¬
form for speakers and tables and seats will be arranged on the
grounds. This is an ideal place for a picnic, and no doubt the at¬
tendance from this and adjoining counties will life large.
Business sessions will be hold Saturday. The Cherokee dis¬
trict includes eleven counties and a big attendance is looked for.
One of the features will be team drilling for a prize. Each
lodge 111 the district is expected to enter a team in tins contest.
The following is the program for flic two days exercise:
Friday, April 24.
Convention called'to order by Division Deputy Grand Master,
Tom Hill, of Dalton, at 10 o’clok a. m., at Logan’s Hall and march
under leadership of Division Deputy Grand Master to Wildwood
Bark (pine thicket) for public meeting.

In Memoriam.
S. U. Long departed this life
April 0, 1908, in Union county,
South Carolina. He was born in
the same county i.n which he died,
on February 21, 1828.
He profoesed faith in Christ
and joined the M. E. church,
South in 1847, and lived a con¬
sistent member until his death.
He leaves seven children, four
sons and three daughters, as
well as a host of friends to nn n'm
his loss, but their loss is his gain.
