months. Many times have we
been made more hopeful by read
ing it- Think we have had fully
the worth of our money. Th-n
again when we come to call up the
by-gone, and try to reproduce self
again now in our declining years,
we can never do this without liv¬
ing over again the best and most
memorial part of life in and around
Spring Place, tied bless the peo¬
ple of old Muriay, We Entered
its fertile valleys in December 1847.
Then, as now one of the most lov¬
able spots to be found anywhere.
We have all these years had a
tender touch for Murray county,
and the sight of the blue s' ades
of her lovable mountains a-wayB
calls up many Bweet memories of
the past, and sometimes with us
as no doubt many others, it is hard
for us to livt, with our on the
more important things that are
before for trying to live back into
these apparent days of the past
that then s^emel to be brighter
and more hopeful. But here we
are, and on we go. There is one
thing however that wo desire to
make speciol mention of, and that
is some of the old pioneers that
have stood all the tests of the
past and are yet the surviving of
the tomb. How muc.i the good
people tfMumy county owe to
such men as Col. W. Luffmen, Blaj
R. £• Wilson, (’apt. W. H. Ramsey
J. C. Henry, F, Vornberp, Mom oe
McGhee, S. M Wall, and many
otherB lor the state of society and
politics, who can tell. Such men
are worthy of double honor. It
always us f»el glad when there is
an opportunity lor us fo cross tlu»
river from our neighboring little
village only six miles from you,
and step ’round in old Spring
Place, And then of course we
feel glad again when Unde Jim
Henry or Old Harve Ramsey comes
to us, and tells us that dinner is
ready. Forty odd years aud not
weary yet. “Even down to old
age all my people shall prove”
Good pioneers these. Hope that
Murray county will stand by
them as long as they live.
There is not much news ovr ties
~ay, The recent rains bus made
us all so glad that we feel like tell¬
ing everybody about it.
After all our truthful boasting on
you over the river, we have a great
deal in reserve lor ourselves, We
think we have as good a cla^s
of old citizens and beautiful girls
and boys as can be found any¬
where else in sight of (he bine
shades of the North Georgia Moun¬
tains.
So let us all be kindly affection¬
ate for each other,
Love to you Mr. Editor and ajl
your contribitors and the readers
of the Jjmpwcccitk.
How procioaa t* u» e»oh day should b«
As we journey on our pilgrim path,
Knowing that He that love* you anu ire,
Will take care of us at last.
We feel true that it’s dark at times,
But abore the eU.uiis its tight,
Up in the heppr happy clime:
We'll dwell where faith’s lost in Night.
