VELVET TRAIN.
to Chicago in
Twenty'two Hours
and 58 Minutes.
Commencing on Monday, June
5th, the Western and Atlantic rail¬
road and the Nashville, Chatta¬
nooga and St. Louis railway inau¬
gurated the quickest schedules ev¬
er made between Atlanta and; Chi
cago.
President Thomas said that he
had the short line between Atlan¬
ta and Chicago, and he intended
to make whatever schedules might
be necessaiy, not only to meet the
competition, but to show his pat
rons that he appreciated their
kindness by giving the them quick
e st and best service ^between "At
vnta and Chicago.
The velvet vestibuled train
h uves daily Atlanta 10 a. m.; leave
Chattanooga 2:42 p. m.; leaves
Mashville, 7:45 p.m.; leave Evans¬
ville, 12:45 a. in.; and arrive at
Chicago, 8:58 a.nr, making the
unprecedented time of twenty two
hours and fifty-eight minutes from
Atlanta to Chicago, This train
will be vestibuled throughout, in¬
cluding baggage, mail, express,
day coaches and Pullman’s finest
sleepers.
In addition to this special vesti¬
buled train to Chicago the world’s
fair llyer, which formerly left at 2
p. m., leaves daily at 2:15 p. m.,
with solid train, composed of bag¬
gage, mail and express cars, day
coaches and Pulnmn palace sleeper.
This train runs solid from Atlan¬
ta to Louisville, and the sleeper
on tnis train will go through Jrorn
Atlanta to Chicago without change,
via lyfonon route. This solid train
from Atlanta to Louisville connects
i:; the union depot at Louisville
with both tl.e great Pennsylvania
line and the Monon route, Leav¬
ing Atlanta at 2 15 p.m., via this
route, you will arrive at Chicago
the ntxt afternoon at 5.30 p. m.,
The third train which the Wes¬
tern and Atlantic railroad has for

m., and arrives at Chicago the next

ville, and connects in the union

man buffet sleeping ear thiough

ville and the Pennsylvania lines,
without change. The morning ex¬
press will leave Atlanta at 8 in¬
stead of 8,20, as heretofore, and
will arrive at Nashville at 715 p,
m., n aking all -local stops as at
present.
(V]r. Charles E, Harmon, general
passenger agent ol the Western
and Atlantic railroad, says that his
world’s lair information bureau is
working admirably, and says that
he is answering hundreds of let¬
ters daily, giving desired informa¬
tion to parties who contemplate a
visit to Chicago, as to routes, rates
hotels and boarding homes. Be
euk the number of hotels in Chi¬
cago, oi which he has a list, he has
also obtained, through reliable in¬
formation, the address of fifteen or
twenty boarding houses, which he
is furnishing to the patrons of the
Western and Allautic rialroad
upon application.
He has issued a neat little circu¬
lar giving important world’s lair
information, which he will send to
any one upon application.
It looks now as though the rail¬
roads had determined to maintain
the rates as named, and will have a
war of schedules instead of a war
of rates. Mr. Harman says that
this is the best way to accommo¬
date the people, by giving them
q.dck and reliable schedules and
allowing the rends to receive w liv¬
ing rate out of the worla’s fair bus
in ess.
