Dawnyiu.k Ga., Editor
JULPI.KCUT*: Some of us just
over this way are uery proud
that Murray county has an
.editor that will, we believe,
stand at the. end of the days
among the tried and the true,
robed in the habiliments of
true democracy. We, want to
compliment you tor your un¬
compromising stand for Gen.,
Evans. And then permit us
to say that if we have to dance
in the hog trouirh let us do it
with as good grace as we can,
although it will go almost
mortal hard with some of us,
especially those ot u* that has
vn't good use of our lower ex¬
tremities in consequence of the
•use made of them in other days.
It does seem that the tendaney
of the conduct ot some—and
not a few, ot our lending pre¬
tended detnocats is to drive
the bone and nerve of the land
to some other party, than that
ot democracy. We do not
•want to speak or write dam¬
aging! y, to any man or set of
men, but facts are stuborn
things. There is no one class
ot men that has all the brains
s anc other good qualities, such
us ought to characterise** office
holders. But with Job, many
ot the wool hats are crying out:
No doubt ye are the people,
and wisdom will perish 6 ® with
you. There-ia a day soon to
dawn upon this old world ol
ours when the lamentations of
“Jenimiah will suit better than
ho much brain triekry. But if
there is a ventage of the key of
knowledge left in the hands of
the yeomanry of the land it is
now in process of being taken
from them.
We would in all candor yay
to the legal fraturnaty iu thun¬
dering tones, halt: halt and
stand ye in.the ways and in¬
quire tor the old and true dem¬
ocratic paths, and walk in them
and ye shall find democratic
rest. < )ue of two things you
must do, you must give to the
their full share of ail
that demociacy guarantees to
them untricked, or then there
aoon will be such a revolt 111
the democratic rauks as will
tear it all to pieces. Now then
don’t say we, are not to blame,
tor you aie. This key unlocks
thedooi and lurns us all into
the great trouble ot the demo
ciatic party iu Georgia today.
Again we say halt; you have
had enough ot the honors and
spalls of office, give back to the
people their key, they yet
know how to manage their own
affairs and lihey are sooner or
later going to do it. The legal
fratcni'ty has no Letter friend
in the state than this humble
dotter; , _ ... but when it comes to
pass that men are, by that or
der, claimed to be disqualified
to hold office because they are
luioiotPI* «f tu« Go.,,el, 1 we
waulri remind them of the . tact
that they also have a high call
iug, being miuist.TB of Justice
between mail, and man, and
tl.er.tor. .N, it 1 aW 1
And so on through every a
carton ill life. We close
tl 1 * 9 ^ ne thought by saying
ug a jj apostolic plan
of esteeming others Letter and
more worthy than self. This
method will get the answer.
Please say to all our old
friends andeomrads over there
that we are still breathing and
that in the main things are lovely
about Dawuvilie - It is rather dry
btn we think our old friend Mon¬
roe McGhee is right about the
signs tor a good crop. Tell sisters
Keister, llenrj and W H- Ramsey
she Lord prosper them, there is a
better day coming* There are a
thousand and oedff good things we
would love to*say to all tbe good
people 1u four lovely old county of
Murray, but have otherwise *akeu
upulthe space likely allowable.
Tell Dave Heartsell when he re¬
in eurqers old pigeon then to re¬
member his old friend over this
Way. We want in conclusion, Mr.
Editor: ,0 send happy greetings to
all the Jimp’s correspoudants and
say to them, shove along, keek
moving, you are doing good work.
Gratalully Wm. McNabb.
