such a thing.
The next legislature should raise what

ten to fourteen years, at least. The rea¬

admit discus.,ion. The wonder to us is
that this has mtl been done vests ago.
Wk ore plensed to note that lion. Pat.

Tub stockholders of tho Augusta A

Forsyth for the past, few days. Nothing
on earth will make bettor citizens out
of tiegros than to know if they step up
from their nlacus that a sound thrashing
at the hands of thekitkhixawaits them.
If Forsyth will send her niggers np to
Murray they will soon quit their mean¬

people have not the least uneasiness
that there wdl bo.

Every of town and community has its full

SoMk thirty or forty applications for
pensions been under the “indigent soldier’’
act have filed with the Ordinary
of this county. Necessarily not more
than one-tenth of this number will be
approved by tqe Executive. To pay all
would mean more than $3099 for this
county, and as the appropriation for
the entire slate is only $30,000 it would
he absolutely impossible to recognise
all these claims. This act is only for
the benefit of old soldiers who would,
otherwise, he forced to go to the poor
houses of the counties in which they
live. It is not our intent to litter one
sylalile to the disparagement of any old
soldier’s claim: on the other hand we
favor the passage of a bill in ti a next
hy legislatnr«\Whieh, the people, upon being ratified
would secure the pay¬

federate soldier in Georgia who served
in the late war for a period of twelve

—not taking advantage of any act. of con¬
gress to shirk the duty due his country.
Ali, administrators, executors and
