’Squire Dyar Keith, of Fort Mountain,

Marion Elrod returned last week from a
business trip to Northeast Georgia.
Arnos IT. Keith was with his Spring
Place friends a few hours Monday.
Justice court convened here Monday. A
nice sprinkle of our citizens attended.
Hill Anderson and family spent Sunday
with frienns ami relatives in the city.
Spencer Davis cracked a few jokes with
his town friends the first of this week.
Jesse tV. Langston, of Amzi, listened
to Rev. Lightfoot’s sermon here Sunday.

last Friday.
That popular young couple, Jack Keith
and lady, spent Sunday at liie home of
Dr. Audeison.
Harrison Timms, of Atlanta, spent sev-

Monte Hampton lately arrived here

carbuncle under his left arm.
G. VV. Willis, a thrifty Gordon county
farmer, was among Ills old Spring Platt
friends during the past week.
Jovial Jack Long was around to see us
Monday. Jack is a clever and honest fel¬
low and always has bread at his house.
Bob Jackson and , , lady are the proud pa-
•rents of a nine and one-half pound boy,
who arrived at their house Sunday morn¬
ing.
’Squire “Tiger Kilgore, of the pro-
historic Bull Pen, was shaking the
friendly hand here one day the first of tills
■week.
Bob Franklin, , of Adairsville, . was here
on a visit to relatives last week. While
here he purchased aline Jack, of Lewis
Thompson.
Mr. am. Mrs. Lee lreadwell gave a
party of their young friends a highly tn-
joyabie social party at their home last
Saturday night.
Bill Childers says that Spring is aj>-
preaching and that the bachelors are
trimming their whiskers for the Crane
VV.Ulow Maidens.
The farmers have been taking advantage
of the past few days of favorable weather
and preparations for Spring planting have
been materially advanced.
One of Ed Pierce’s little boys Was
stricken with a spasm while at school,
near Ainzi, last week and has been in a
critical condition since then.
A. A. Chable, representing the Travel-
ler’s insurance Company, Knoxville,
Tenn., was in the city on business Satur-
day. Marion Kindrick was with him.
Handsome Dee Parsons was up from
Calhoun and spent Saturday and Sunday
with his parents, out near Oran. Dee nas
a lucrative position as salesman in Cal-
liouu.
C. S. Pangle, of Loughridge, was down
here Monday dispensing with a load of
country produce. Mr. Bangle is one of
our thiiftiest citizens and always has
something useful to sell.
O. C. Caldwell, wife and little boy,
paid The Jimpleoute an appreciated
business call last Saturday. They are lo¬
cated at LaFayette, Walker county, now,
and are doing a growing picture business,
The smallpox scare has abated to some
extent; yet the danger is not past. Next
week coutt will he in session here and our
citizens should guard against the disease
being brought here by thorough vaccina
tion.
Lawyers King and ITenry and Clerk,
Billie Johnson, attended Shuck Pen court
last Saturday. The lawyers went up to <lo
some lawing and Biilie went along to
transact a little business with the voters
of that section.
His host of friends will he very sorry to
know that James C Ramsey intends
going to Argenta, Ark., to live, in about
ten days oi two weeks. Jim is one ot
Murray county’s best hoys and we hopi
that he will meet with great success in his
new home.

a business trip to Dalton. Mr. Pendley
went down to Rome the same day.

her mother, who is in a very low state of
health and not expected to live many days
longer.

here, and other friends made the pastor,

Last week our edition was near seventy
papers short and we were unable 'o send
copies to several offices. We trust our
readers at those offices will pardon this
unavoidable occurrence and we will do our
best to prevent its happening again.
The town marshall finds plenty to do
now-a-days if he catches ail of the offen-
ders. it is very unmanly to wantonly
trample upon the laws of society and good

Monday, Bob Robinson’s house caught
hre from t,i>: stove flue and was barely
saved from the fl lines. When discovered

roof and it took hard work to stop it.
One cannot be too careful about lire
during this dry and windy weather.
Another accidental death lias been
added to the list in this county. Last
Thursday night Bob Keith, of Dunn, was
thrown from a mu e near Loughridge and
instantly killed, his neck being broken
and his brains dashed out against
rocks. There were some other men
him at the time and some had a suspicion
of foul play being used but the coroner’s
inquest could find no evidence to verify
anything of the kind. Mr. Keith was an
honest and popular citizen and leaves a
wife and large family of children. The
Jimpi.ecutje extends sympathy to the
widow and the fatherless ,,

of the scoool faculty.
One or a set of mischievous vandals
have been throwing stones or shooting
and breaking the glass insulators on the
telephone line between here and Dalton.
Such work as this is very aggravating
and damaging to the company and if
Judge Fite learns who did it he will be 1
apt to make this climate a few degrees
