Ed L. King, in Nashville,
Tenn , last week. His body
was found beside tlie road on
the outskirts of the city and
the presumption is that he
murdered. His cousin. John
II. King, lives in
but did not barn of the death

man; however his people
some doubts and entertain
hope that there may have

Shriner’s second child died of
diphtheria at Holly last

Our genial young citizen,
Marion H. Williams, is re¬
ceiving the congratulations of
his friends upon his good for¬
tune in winning prizes in The
Constitution cotton contest
aggregating $208.96. His
guess bales was less 2,271,903, than just 33
the actual
number of bales. The winner
of the capital prize of $5 000
was Charles L. Davidson, of
Nashville, Tenn., w*ho came
within one of guessing the ex¬
act number.
The death of Col. To.n
Jones Saturday morning will
be keenly felt throughout "this*
section, tie was, beyond a
doubt, the brightest legal
light in the Cherokee circuit,
if not in this entire portion of
the State, and was a consi-t
ent Christian gentlemaa as,
well as a splendid citizen and
loyal friend in every particular,
